    In this episode, Morris Sussex Sports had the privilege of interviewing long time Daily Record sports writer Joe Hofmann.  Joe recounts his fascinating career covering all the great Morris-Sussex athletes as he spent most of his career focusing on football, wrestling and baseball.  He talks about all of the great coaches like John Bauer senior and junior of Randolph, Doug Wilkins of Mountain Lakes, Phil Longo of Par Hills and many many more.  He also recalls all of the great athletes that competed in those three sports throughout the years.  It's fascinating to hear him talk about all of the relationships he forged with all of the great former athletes and coaches.  And there are literally thousands of former high school athletes that have his news clippings in their scrapbooks.  We thought we'd flip it and actually interview him for once.  This is one podcast interview you cannot miss.

Learning where she helps people of all ages uncover their natural gifts and talents through meditation and mindfulness.

  • Kevin Saum's Near Death Concussion & His Triumphant Recovery

    In this episode, we interview former West Morris Central runningback Kevin Saum. Kevin suffered a traumatic brain injury called Second Impact Syndrome (SIS) during a high school football game against Morris Knolls on October 5, 2007. SIS has a 50% mortality rate and nearly 100% morbidity rate, yet Kevin miraculously survived with full cognitive and physical abilities, but was no longer able to pursue his dream of playing college football. Although Kevin knew how fortunate he was, his transition to life after sports was trying. Despite his disappointment and depression, Kevin felt inspired to be the voice for those athletes who weren’t as lucky as he was and cannot share their story.     You don't have to be a football fan to be able to fall in love with this story.  In 2008, Livingston quarterback Mike Genovese led his Lancer team through a roller coaster season that took everyone who witnessed it through every emotion possible.   It started in the spring of Genovese's junior season when his close knit group of friends suffered the loss of their classmate and beloved friend Brielle who passed away due to a fast moving cancer.  After dedicating their senior football season to Brielle, it seemed like the wind was at their back as they were steam rolled past their competition.  However, things were about to take a turn for the worse.
