In this episode, Morris Sussex Sports interviews Dr. Ferheen Shamim of the Orthopedic Institute of NJ to talk all about concussions.  Dr. Shamim shares candidly about the symptoms, treatments and ways athletes can prepare themselves to avoid concussions.  Dr. Shamim was a former athlete herself so she totally understands how emotional a concussion, or any injury for that matter, can be for a high school competitor.   Dr. Ferheen Shamim, MD is a sports medicine physician and is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  Prior to her position at The Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey, Dr. Shamim served as a doctor for numerous triathlons, including the Carlsbad Ironman in 2015. Dr. Shamim completed her fellowship in sports medicine with a concentration in non-operative management of orthopedic conditions at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA. During her fellowship, she volunteered at Team-to-Win, a charitable program which provides free comprehensive orthopedic care
