Then, the great Trout v. Cabrera MVP discussion, also known as the "Jocks vs. The Geeks", and why Mike Trout was perhaps created in Bill James Laboratory, as he was the  Perfect Storm for traditional and advanced stats argument. A good talk about Diners and the golden rule of ordering in one... Then we got to the Jets, and, lo and behold, we were able to talk about football and not th

THE BIG UNLOAD: With a ton to cover, we basically just went in this order, and talked until we felt full up... 1. Islanders move to Brooklyn. Nassau gets what it deserves, we get to keep a hockey team. 2 The Jets. A lot. Highlights included a role play with Sanpete talking to Mike Tannenbaum in Tannenbaum speak and questioning why the Jets have different offensive personnel on every snap. Also, Sanpete snaps. 3. The Giants. Second half problems but... they're still champs. 4. The Mets. Wright and Dickey resigned? Traded? We took each other's puls on the team and the chances both are Mets by January. 5. We had a damned fun FUNLOAD that  somehow involved the movie Ice Pirates and the TV s

Interesting to see what this team does in offseason, as we see it as a team at a crossroads. Talked a lot about the notion you should trade David Wright to rebuild, but not Robinson Cano.   Then we spoke to an old friend, Rich Hutchman, actor and huge Detroit Tigers fan about the Tigers run to the series, his being cast as a deviant on NYPD Blue and working wth Mickey Rooney. A ton of fun to talk to Rich, as Sanpete name dropped his way down memory lane. A lot. From Girarid's gut, to A-Rod: Digit Hunter, to Jeter's injury, to the task impossible at hand, we discussed tons of ALCS Yankee stuff. It was fun.   Our buddy Elwood the Indy Mets fan called to talk... Mets? SOMEBody didn't want to get into the thrashing the Jets handed his Colts on Sunday but he was good sport for coming on...   Talked Jets and Sanpete's theory that Holmes being out may save Sanchez's Jets career (Hmmm, where did I see that today... perhaps in the NY Post?) and Cal is very thrilled at the return of blustery Rex. Not sure if we came up with any fixes, but we certainly tried to figure out why watching this team is no longer an enjoyable activity, and how it's from owner to the FO to the coach to the players. It was a great conversation. -- As the games were going on we talked baseball and Yankees, and how we are hoping for the most possible drama we can get today for season's finale. And we finally got to the... ...The RTU: Funload: All about cover songs... THE BIG UNLOAD: ... Burnt out by our local sports media, our teams, their coverage, & local sports scene in general, we decided to have an old fashioned sports discussion about the "Best Ever". It took lots of  interesting places, including:   Who WAS Rube Waddell? A stat nerd session about  Walter Johnson, Sanpete's obession with WIlt Chamberlain, the Babe Ruth discussion, what would medical science mean for all time greats, Jari Kurri was very good, Cal's obession with Warren Moon, Tommy Lee Jones impressions, who are current players that are in the "best ever" discussion, and Sanpete's wish for Adam Vinatieri's first name to have been Anthony.   We then talked a bit about the best sports r
