    10/08/2020 Duration: 43min

In which we wish Whitney was actually a character who hadn't mostly existed offscreen up to now, so that we could actually sympathize with him, and even Michael Rosenbaum can't save this batch of scripts. 13/07/2020 Duration: 45min

In which our Very Special Guest Lynette brings us an ABC TV movie of the week from the halcyon year 1974. If you've seen lauded modern masterpiece The Boy, you may also be familiar with this movie's plot. We're pretty sure Palahniuk watched it, because it would explain many things about Fight Club. • PRIDE MONTH: Bit - Trans Vampire Meets The Craft

    29/06/2020 Duration: 40min

We really had a great time watching this movie. It also, as you might expect from a film inspired by The Craft and written/directed by a cishet dude, has a lot to unpack. • PRIDE MONTH: Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same - Experimental 90s Theatre

    22/06/2020 Duration: 48min

This week brings us the film debut of Madeline Olnek, who longtime listeners might've heard us praising before for WILD NIGHTS WITH EMILY. While this is definitely a 90s time capsule even if it was filmed in 2011, it's also adorable to the nth degree. Not to mention how lovely it is to see a fat woman cast as the romantic lead. • PRIDE MONTH: Friends & Family - The Big Secret (That They're Hitmen)

    15/06/2020 Duration: 45min

We all know the set-up: a gay couple goes through an elaborate comedy of errors to hide their Big Secret from their parents, who've come to visit out of the blue. But in this case, the secret isn't that Stephen and Danny are in love...it's that they're hitmen for the mob, and they've been telling Stephen's parents they were caterers. Tough to google and impossible to stream (but fortunately pretty cheap on DVD), this one is a true gem of queer cinema that has been almost completely forgotten. • PRIDE MONTH: The Talented Mr. Ripley - Homoerotic Murder Ensues

    08/06/2020 Duration: 48min

This year's Pride theme was decided by vote, and y'all called for queer genre films--we're happy to provide. But tradition demands that we start with the oldest and stodgiest conventions to know our roots, and so we bring you a classic tale of a Repressed Murder Gay, written by highly regarded thriller writer (and lesbian) Patricia Highsmith. You're probably more familiar with the other movies based on her work (CAROL and STRANGERS ON A TRAIN), but Ripley is a pretty damn important figure in genre history. • Drunk Book Club: Chuck Palahniuk's Haunted

    25/05/2020 Duration: 01h22min

We swear we decided to read the book about a bunch of asshole writers trapped in a building while the world outside possibly dies of a pandemic all the way back in January. Still, if that subject -- as well as the laundry list of content warnings we've had to do up for Chuck "the Fight Club guy" Palahniuk-- isn't something you're up for right now, that's 110% understandable. We'll catch you on the next one. For everyone who wants a bit of a horrified scream-laugh though...we've got you covered. • Drunk Book Club: Exit To Eden

    16/03/2020 Duration: 01h26min

After lo these many months, we've finally returned to the well of Anne Rice novels--sorry, "Anne Rampling." Exit to Eden is part of Rice's weird walkabout with literary and erotic novels before her return to vampires, and it wins the coveted "probably less actively dangerous as a damagingly inaccurate text about BDSM than 50 Shades of Grey" award almost solely because it's much harder to emulate. It is definitely a novel about how kinksters just need that healing monogamy, though. • Go Crows! The Internet's Only Smallville Podcast - Season 1, Episodes 5-7

    02/03/2020 Duration: 49min

The internet's only Smallville-cast returns with a decided downgrade in the episode offerings, although Lex having a destiny so hardcore and dastardly that even a vision of it KILLS A WOMAN almost makes up for it. This time we have Shawn in tow to see if, maybe, we can suss out what tentative connections the series occasionally decides to have to the comics. • Yu-Gi-Oh: The Dark Side Of Dimensions (w/ Alexis Sara) - 15 Years In and We Still Can't Explain It

    03/02/2020 Duration: 56min

Do you like YuGiOh? We hope so, because this reunion movie was pretty much exclusively made for people who already had Big Feels about the franchise. Even as three nerds who were all part of the phenomenon in the 2000s, we're still not entirely sure we got all of it. But Alexis was kind enough to power through the To Wong Foo episode with us last Pride Month and dammit, we owed her. Was it BAD? • Drunk Book Club: The Silver Kiss

    06/01/2020 Duration: 01h10min

We found it: the missing link between Interview with the Vampire and Twilight. On the one hand, we have a child vampire villain and musings about the power of human nature; on the other, a Not Like Other Girls heroine who's into the new bad boy in town (but not like, TOO bad). It's a fascinating historical document. As a novel....well, the ending's unexpected. • Go Crows! The Internet's Only Smallville Podcast - Season 1, Episodes 2-4

    09/12/2019 Duration: 52min

Not to be contained by the first of April, Go Crows returns! We're making a proper go of it, but the title stuck. Apologies to all the other theoretical podcasts about Smallville that might have come before us. Our three-episode spread this time leads us on a merry chase through The Fly, an episode that's just about Good, Actually; and an evil lesbian to serve as immediate punishment for enjoying ourselves. As always, Lex is our special boy. Because somehow this show fucked up so hard that the billionaire business owner is the most sympathetic character. • Bathtubs Over Broadway - Live Your Truth, Love Weird Shit

    25/11/2019 Duration: 48min

This documentary was delivered right to our doorstep with a stamp that said "your brand": the tale of a late-night comedy writer and how he stumbled into the enormous and yet nearly lost world of the industrial musical, multi-million dollar shows put on for corporations and never meant to be seen by society at large. • Drunk Book Club: The Phantom Of Manhattan (AKA Love Never Dies)

    12/11/2019 Duration: 01h18min

In which a longtime Phantom fan and someone who doesn't even go here read a published fanfic that hits all the notes of being BAD fanfic, including: a sequel that the original didn't need, killing off characters for no reason, magically adding babies that make no sense, and turning the canon love interest into an asshole because they're in the way of your preferred ship. And then there are the GENERAL bad book problems, like bad pacing and a complete disdain for women. Anyway, then it got made into a multi-million dollar musical. Because Andrew Lloyd Webber gets away with that kind of shit. Oh, and Forsyth is a pro-Brexit shitstain going back over a decade so y'know, fuck him in general outside of the bad book. • Blood & Chocolate - A Different Kind of Wish Fulfillment

    28/10/2019 Duration: 54min

"Wait, wasn't this week supposed to be Good Manners?" Weeeeeeell, we ran into a little trouble. Mostly in that Good Manners isn't about LADY werewolves. Instead, we decided to take a look at Blood & Chocolate, a movie based on a popular proto-YA novel in that it shares some character names. It might not be a GOOD movie, but it managed to surprise us with its rejection of toxic masculinity in a genre known for dickweed alpha males. • The Howling (w/ Jourdain Searles) -- Where Are All the Other Female Werewolf Movies?

    30/09/2019 Duration: 54min

It's that time of year again, where we put our spookiest foot forward and our horror history hats on. And since we're a podcast full of vampire fans, we thought we'd step out of our comfort zone and try out some of those werewolves we've heard so much about. This week we're joined by media critic Jourdain Searles to shine a light on the horror classic that was unfortunately overshadowed by An American Werewolf in London when it came out and makes stellar use of the werewolf as a metaphor for grappling with trauma. 16/09/2019 Duration: 01h19min

It's our third anniversary! We decided to celebrate by talking about Hannibal Lecter's (excuse us, "Lecktor") first appearance on film. And if that gives us lots of opportunities to also talk about a certain Bryan Fuller...well, that's just a lucky coincidence, isn't it?
