Relationships are always messy, so we will have to practice forgiveness if we are going to remain in relationship. But forgiveness has huge benefits for both the community and for ourselves. As we experience the forgiveness of God in Christ, we are increasingly enabled to let go of resentment. - Pastor Arthur Hsu

Conflict is a part of every relationship, so we must learn how to resolve conflict in healthy, biblical ways. We are not to cut off relationships when there is friction but instead we are to work toward “peace with everyone, as far as it depends on us.” We are to focus on loving and serving the other person, rather than living “our own way.” We are also to avoid pride and conceit and approach our neighbor with humility as we seek to find a resolution. A neighborhood contains all kinds of people—people very different from ourselves. So we won’t get very far with loving our neighbors if we don’t practice tolerance and grace, to both accept their differences and to actively love them even if we don’t think they deserve it. Jesus loved people very different from himself; He moved toward even sinners and the down-and-out with not just tolerance but grace. Jesus said that Loving God & Loving our Neighbor summarizes the whole law of God. But loving our neighbors—even knowing them—isn’t always easy or convenient.
