The persecution against Christians scattered Jewish believers to find safety and protection. But, some used the situation to do the unthinkable - they pivoted away from safety to bring the good news of Jesus to the Gentiles. What resulted was the calling of the disciples as "Christians," the establishment of the first Gentile church, and Antioch becoming the home base of Paul's missions. What do a diploma, vaccine card, and a driver's license have in common? They all serve to prove that you have completed the necessary steps to verify your capabilities. Unfortunately when one professes that they are a follower of Jesus, we don’t receive a card which affirms that one’s faith is genuine. How do we know our faith is genuine? God has told us in His Word that He desires that we would KNOW that He is the Lord, but it is sobering to see that we sometimes respond by ignoring Him or even run away from Him. In Ezekiel 6:1-3, God directed Ezekiel to pronounce an oracle of judgment against the “Mountains of Israel”, which are the centers of pagan worship where the Israelites practiced their idolatry. Throughout the Book of Ezekiel, the phrase “so that you will know that I am the Lord” is used 70 times. It is a purpose statement that expresses the reason for God’s action. God judges Israel not simply because He loves Israel and hates sin, but because He wants all the nations to know that He is God. - Andrew Pua

It is so easy to boast about our talents and achievements. But, as followers of Jesus Christ, we talk big about our relationship with God in order for the world to know the Lord and his steadfast love, justice and righteousness.  - Pastor Arthur Hsu

Isaiah 49:13 says, "Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the LORD has comforted his people and will have compassion on his afflicted." However, v.14 says, "But Zion said, 'The LORD has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me.'" Wow...quite a shift in perspective. Israel felt like God had left them when they needed Him the most. But there was one thing that Israel needed to do: Wait patiently. Waiting is something none of us enjoy doing, and this is especially true when we are in pain or afraid. Are we willing to trust Him anyway? - Pastor Gaylord Tsuei

It's a given that God reveals himself to his people to show that he is their Lord. But, God also reveals himself to those outside his kingdom because he, too, is their Lord. All people, whether faithful or disobedient, will be held accountable to God's truth that "I am the Lord."  - Pastor Arthur Hsu

As we read through the Bible, we are often amazed/comforted/intrigued/dismayed by how God interacts with people. Sometimes it seems to make perfect sense, and other times we are left a bit confused about "His ways" vs. "our ways." One of the main reasons God states in answer to the question of "WHY" is, "then you will know that I am the Lord." Who does God interact with? What does He want us to know about Him? In the next few months we will try to unpack different passages from Scripture to address these questions so that we can know Him better and hopefully understand our relationship with Him more. - Pastor Gaylord Tsuei

It's been humbling to see God move our English ministry to be involved in his mission of making disciples who make disciples. As we look forward to a brand new year let us live in a way, strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, to be faithful people who teach others to proclaim his great name throughout all the nations of the earth. - Pastor Arthur Hsu

As we worship on this last Sunday of 2020, we transition to a new year with anticipation that God is continuing to work in powerful ways in transforming lives. We are not called to "hunker down," but to live courageously, purposefully, and compassionately. In Acts 20, Paul had a difficult and heartfelt conversation with some Ephesians believers before he moved on to another ministry. But the message of Christmas, and the call for followers of Christ is to be an example of hope as we experienced it from Christ Himself.
