Panthers blew the Leafs out of their own building, take a 3-2 series lead Heading back to Sunrise!
15/05/2025 Duration: 33minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Alex Donno(@AlexDonno) from the Florida Panthers Radio Network and Locked On Canes to the show to break down the Panthers' 6-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs to take a 3-2 series lead back to Sunrise. The Panthers made a lineup change with bringing in Jesper Boqvist into the lineup, and after a tight first few minutes, the game started opening up and the Panthers started controlling the play, where they were able to help produce the first goal by Aaron Ekblad. It didn't stop there as the Panthers killed off Toronto's PP chance to start the second period and from there began the onslaught with three second period goals as the Leafs consistently broke the puck out poorly. The Panthers added some additional offensive zone time and it result in more goals ending up in the back of their net, including Jesper Boqvist's first career playoff goal off a 3-on-2. That was also his first goal since January 25th. Florida

Game 5 feels like more than just a fresh start for the Panthers
14/05/2025 Duration: 38minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday to preview tonight's Game 5 between the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The two start off with the health of Evan Rodrigues, as he was seen on the ice during practice on Tuesday, but his game status is still a bit up in the air. Also the guys give their opinions on Max Domi receiving a $5,000 fine after boarding Aleksander Barkov at the end of game 4. Panthers Minority owner Doug Cifu has been suspended indefinitely by the NHL for his behavior on X toward a Leafs fan, the guys quickly discuss their thoughts on that along with discussing the state of the special teams through four games. Lastly, Florida comes into game five with a different look, the wingers in the top six are switched (assuming Rodrigues is able to play), and a whole new fourth line will see their first action in Toronto after getting inserted into game 3. Now it'

Panthers shutout Toronto as the Cats had full control from start to finish, will Domi get suspended?
12/05/2025 Duration: 35minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is joined by Frank Rekas(@FrankRekas) to discuss the Panthers' 2-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 4 to tie the series at 2. The Panthers were dominant from start to finish and were able to have the ice tilted in their favor as the Leafs shot themselves in the foot with penalties early on. It took the Panthers a while to get their power play going, but Matthew Tkachuk found Verhaeghe on a backdoor pass and Verhaeghe as the Cats got the first lead of the game. Florida gave Toronto very little to work with as Sergei Bobrovsky didn't have much action on his end. Toronto had very little breakaway chances, where Bobrovsky was able to stop William Nylander on one, and Matthew Knies completely misses the net on the other. It was still a tightly contested game despite the shot discrepancy being in the Panthers favor, but a disruption in the neutral zone gave the Panthers a two goal lead midway through the third period as

Brad Marchand with the Heroics in Overtime as the Panthers Protected Home Ice!
10/05/2025 Duration: 38minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Florida Panthers Historian, Francisco Oporta(@FLACatsHistory) to break down the Panthers' 5-4 OT win over the Toronto Maple Leafs as they cut the series to a 2-1 deficit. Florida trailed twice, 2-0 and 3-1, but three second period goals had the Panthers going into the third period with a lead. Florida was able to eliminate the Leafs speed in the second and third period and it helped them get to their game. A bounce that deflected off of Seth Jones and into the net had the Leafs forcing overtime. After the 10 minute mark in overtime, Florida was controlling play, and eventually it was Brad Marchand who ended it 15:27 into the first OT off the forecheck. All lines were a factor, including the fourth line where Maurice made a surprising lineup change ahead of the game putting in AJ Greer, Tomas Nosek and Jonah Gadjovich into the game, and it resulted in the go ahead goal in the second period. We discuss the three

The Leafs knew how to counter, Panthers now down 0-2 heading back home
08/05/2025 Duration: 33minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Adam Lichtenstein(@ABLichtenstein) of the South Florida Sun Sentinel to the show to break down the Panthers' 4-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. It was not as slow of a first period for the Panthers as it was in game one, but the Panthers did get their fair share of penalty trouble in the first, the Cats however got the first lead of the game thanks to Aleksander Barkov, just 5 seconds into the PP. They would not go into the second tied as Max Pacioretty struck again getting a power play goal himself. After the Panthers got the first goal of the second period 15 seconds in from the third line, Toronto once again responded just over 4 minutes later off the rush. The Leafs rush chances continued to bite Florida as they got another one at the end of the second period to take the lead into the third. It was another counter punch for Toronto as the Panthers tied it at three just over 5 minutes into the third, but T

Sam Bennett will not face any supplemental discipline. What are the keys to victory in Game 2?
07/05/2025 Duration: 35minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is joined by Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday. The two discuss their thoughts on Sam Bennett receiving zero supplemental discipline from the NHL after Bennett's collision with Anthony Stolarz. Would that give the Panthers a psychological advantage? The two also discuss the difference in Woll and Stolarz on how they fair from low, medium and high danger opportunities, and how it could help Florida. What are the keys to a game two victory? Panthers rush defense cost them in Game 1. Will Sam Bennett face discipline from the league?
06/05/2025 Duration: 37minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Langsam(@PTPJacob) of Panther Pourri to break down the Panthers' 5-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game One of round two, where the Panthers played from behind from the start after giving up the first goal 33 seconds into the game. The Leafs were able to stifle the Panthers only allowing four shots on goal in the first where they did not allow the Panthers to get their forecheck going with quick breakout passes, and were able to match the Panthers' physicality on the night. Florida's rush defense was a major issue on the evening as three of Toronto's five goals came off the rush, as Florida has been exceptional with limiting breakaways. The Cats were able to tilt the ice in the second period, but Toronto was able to get on the scoresheet again after a face off win and a goal from the point from Chris Tanev. Florida was able to get two goals in the first five minutes of the third to make it a game aft

04/05/2025 Duration: 35minOn today's edition of the Locked on FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Amalie Benjamin(@AmalieBenjamin) from NHL.com to discuss her impressions of the Panthers before their series against Tampa Bay to what transpired. Brandon Hagel has a few words to say on Lightning clean out day about Aaron Ekblad's hit to his head, what do the two think? The Panthers will have not one, but two Selke Finalists in Sam Reinhart and Aleksander Barkov, this is the first time since 2008 that two teammates finished in the top 3 in Selke voting, with Reinhart playing 12 more games than Barkov, does he have a chance to win it himself? Lastly, Matthew Tkachuk has already started chirping toward Leafs Forward Auston Matthews as the two will face off for the second time in the last three years. Brad Marchand will now be part of the mix, where this will be the fifth time he's faced them, with all the series going the distance. Florida's depth showed up again as the third line stole the show. The Bolts were first on the board and it was a back and forth after the Panthers scored two straight, but the Panthers started to break it open once Sam Bennett scored after coming out of the penalty box. Florida once again kept the Lightning's stars at bay again, including forcing turnovers from Nikita Kucherov before Bennett's goal and on Reinhart's EN goal. Now the Panthers await the winner of Leafs-Senators. The two discuss their three stars, when they knew the game was won, and some narratives that most of us got wrong before round two. COMEBACK CATS: Panthers Steal Game 4 in the Final 5 minutes to take a 3-1 Series Lead!
29/04/2025 Duration: 36minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Florida Panthers Historian Francisco Oporta(@FLACatsHistory) to break down the Panthers' 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning to take a 3-1 series lead. The Cats were having a hard time getting to the middle of the ice, and allowed two goals in 11 seconds to TB after Aaron Ekblad knocked Brandon Hagel out of the game. Panthers did respond with two of their own in the third period after a big kill on a five-minute major after Niko Mikkola got called for board on Zemus Girgensons. After the kill, the Panthers still only had 1 SOG after 12 minutes, but Aaron Ekblad wouldn't be denied after having a goal disallowed due to offside earlier, and then Seth Jones gave the Panthers the lead 11 seconds later. The Panthers pulled off a miracle and prevented themselves from the series taking a big turn. Panthers Couldn't take advantage of a Hagel-less Bolts squad. Frustration for the Cats showed
26/04/2025 Duration: 34minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jackson Holzer(@JacksonH_52) to the show to break down the Panthers' 5-1 loss in Game 3. Matthew Tkachuk scored in the first three minutes of the game, and the Panthers did nothing from there. The first period was a possession heavy period for the Panthers right before Tampa Bay scored. Second period on had very little space available, and Tampa Bay took the lead off a poor breakout and off a give-n-go by Nick Paul. Panthers drew a penalty toward the end of the second, with a bit 4-on-4 time before they got on the power play, Tampa bay scored with 3 seconds left at 4-on-4 with another assist from Nikita Kucherov from behind the net, and it was all Tampa Bay from there. As the Bolts were about to score on the empty net, Tkachuk laid an interference call on Jake Guentzel that result in a 5-minute major, will the NHL come down on him like they did on Brandon Hagel? The Panthers also shifted their top 9 and power p

Nate Schmidt struck again with his third goal in the first two games after having five all season, and was a goal that beat Andrei Vasilevskiy on the far side blocker with no screen in front after the Lightning iced the puck. The physicality started to pick up as there were more post whistle scrums in game 2 in comparison to the previous. The Panthers went to the box five times, and their league best road penalty kill was put to the test where they went a perfect 5/5, including multiple kills that results in zero shots due to them meeting the Bolts at the blue line as they tried to gain the zone.
