  • OAC 247 Are You A Rush-er?

    21/02/2017 Duration: 19min

Are you a chronically late person who is always rushing to get to an appointment, finish a project? That's what this show is all about.  Recent events led me to this subject, like most of my shows, and is something I believe in one form or fashion we do to ourselves.  Whether it's because we are a procrastinator or like me, gets caught up in a project? Regardless of how we got to be a 'rusher' I truly believe it is in our best interest to change that habit or behavior.  Because in reality it is a pattern of our life and spills over into everything we do.  Think about it?  How does rushing affect you and those around you.  Is it causing you tension in a relationship?  Is it reflecting in poor time management at work?  Are your clients not feeling like you are doing a quality job for them? Listen in to hear my story, not all sunshine and roses, but real. I've been very guilty of what I am talking about, but I wanted to make a change badly enough that I did. I hope you'll share this with someone who won't hear y

  • OAC 245 Going With The Flow!

    13/02/2017 Duration: 16min

I simply could not resist this image I used to post this show.  It just brings me joy when I look at it and reminds me of the joy I received today by 'going with the flow'. As an entrepreneur we wear all the hats, at least in the beginning. We're the webmaster, the graphic designer, the sales rep, the accountant, the marketing guru and whatever else it takes to actually do your business.  Now, if none of these things are actually your business than, dang, you have a lot on your plate before he even get to work on your business. I happen to be one that wear all the hats and today, I had a huge list of 'to do's' I wanted to make a dent in. However, as early as breakfast time things shifted for me.  Totally unexpected events. And I had a choice, do I allow for the interruption or do I relent and put my nose to the grindstone and do my 'to do's?' I chose to 'go with the flow'.  Why, well, you'll need to listen to what I'm talking about when I say 'going with the flow'.  It may or may not be what you are thinking

  • OAC 243 So What's In A Smile?

    07/02/2017 Duration: 17min

This is a loaded subject and was triggered by my dentist appointment today! No, I'm not applauding or complaining, just reflecting on all the messages a simple smile can portray. Cynthia and I recently talked about first impressions, just 4 little tips, but I'm going to expand on that just a bit. How do you react when you meet a business person for the first time and their smile shows broken or missing teeth? We try not to judge, but isn't your very first impression, oh my goodness? If that person isn't taking care of her teeth, her health, her appearance can I trust her to do business with? I'm not saying we need Hollywood picture perfect teeth, but a healthy smile reflects a great deal of who you are. I wasn't thrilled about going to get a new crown today to replace one that had a cavity under it. My anxiety level was off the chart worried about the possibility of a root canal. And, of course, the cost is not cheap for good dental work. However, it is your health, and that smile that spreads from your heart

  • OAC 240 Being Kind Every Day!

    30/01/2017 Duration: 17min

I originally titled this "Are We In A Kindness Crisis?  Then I saw this beautiful picture and decided that was a 'kinder' portrayal of what I share on my show today. But make no mistake, we are, indeed, in a kindness crisis.  My show was inspired by an article on January 1, 2017 titled: "Let's Make 2017 the Year of Being Kind" by Paula Spencer Scott, featured in the Sunday Parade magazine. I've included some of what it talks about, but it doesn't take reading an article to know that being kind every day is a pretty simple thing to do with monumental benefits.  When you, yourself are kind, wow, feels marvelous, especially being kind to someone that annoys you. And how good does it feel when you're the recipient of an act of kindness.  Someone lets you cut in line at the grocery store because you have 1 item, they have 20.  Maybe not significant in your playbook, but together, all of us doing this kind of thing every day... I truly believe this quote: "Kindness is showing Love. I believe that KINDNESS is the cu

  • OAC 238 Life Is Scrumptious!

    24/01/2017 Duration: 16min

Yes, life has it's twists and turns, but when it's scrumptious like a delicious cupcake you gotta shout it out! The show today is all about a new adventure I've studied and mulled over for about a month and now I have to share it!!! Has that ever happened to you?  You've been given an opportunity that you just aren't sure about?  Well, I did and I really wasn't. But when you listen in you'll understand. You might want to listen in to Cynthia and my Wednesday show if you haven't already - cause I reference that on this show.  And please note I will be starting up my interview series in February, so if you haven't already you might want to subscribe to my channel :-)  So if  you would please, listen, comment and share more people will hear my guests!!!  Thank you. Have an awesome SCRUMPTIOUS week! Passing On A Smile, Gail

  • OAC 236 Honoring YOU!

    16/01/2017 Duration: 15min

Today is Martin Luther King, Jr,'s Day.  So I believe this quote is far beyond being appropriate: "The quality, not longevity, of one's life is what is important." --Martin Luther King Jr.  I share with you on this show, the immense power of everything we learn, from our mothers and our fathers, to our teachers, our mentors, our coaches.  And then I talk about YOU and your gifts.  You may never call yourself a 'teacher'.  You may never be paid for the lessons you share.  You may never know the power you transfer with your simple life knowledge.  But you are, indeed, someone teaching and helping someone else grow. I talk about Shelly Drymon and her mission. Lisa Bechtol and her driving force, Cynthia Bazin mentoring motivation, April Bolivar, dog trainer.   They have all been guests on my show for their incredible YOU power of sharing their gifts. Please listen, comment and share.  And thank you. Passing On A Smile, Gail

  • OAC 234 It's All About The Honey!

    10/01/2017 Duration: 16min

My stories to you come from all sorts of inspiration that touch my life. And today I 'received' an overwhelming theme that was confirmed after my early morning decision to talk on this very subject. However, to completely understand the subject you have to listen. But for easy reference here are some links that I refer to. My inspiration came this morning from an interview on EOFire.com - a profound statement his guest made compelled me to expand on her statement.  Maryam Henein is an investigative journalist, eco-entrepreneur and the director of the internationally acclaimed documentary 'Vanishing of the Bees' narrated by Ellen Page. She is also editor, chief and CEO of honeycolony.com, a magazine and marketplace aimed at empowering people to be their own best health advocate. Lisa Bechtol and Hanz Freller - Podcast Hosts of The Tough Stuff   Cynthia Bazin - SmartChic.me And a great BIG THANK YOU to my new subscribers and to my ongoing listeners!  You keep me going! Passing On A Smile,  Gail

  • OAC 232 Expectancy!

    04/01/2017 Duration: 12min

Happy 2017!  Isn't it exciting to be at a new beginning of a new year? I hope you had a great Holiday Season and found joy, fun and shared cherished moments.  If this wasn't the case, I am truly sorry. So many people are ready to jump in with resolutions, and goals and commitments and ready to turn their life around with a new fresh start.  This is awesome!!! As I grabbed my lunch today, I was thinking on this and picked up a favorite publication I receive.  "Guideposts"  I find this inspiring and uplifting and share my issues with my daughter who passes it on to a friend, who shares and we keep it going.  Today I found an article by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, Cofounder of Guideposts and the author of "The Power of Positive Thinking". This article is called "Let, HOPE, Light Your Way"  a timeless New Year's message from 1987.  And the word "Expectancy" jumped out at me when read Dr. Peale's explanation: "When you hope -- really hope - - then a magic ingredient comes into play.  The ingredient is expectancy.  E

  • OAC 231 Ringing In The New Year!

    28/12/2016 Duration: 06min

I simply could not end 2016 without one last shout out to my listeners and getting back in the groove! Holidays are warm and fuzzy and very distracting all at the same time.  I've loved our family gatherings and our traditions of dinner together, gift exchanges and just being together... But when the dust settles and most of the family leaves, then you look around at your house totally decorated for the holidays and it imparts this feeling of being in a holding pattern. Even when I worked outside my home, I was always lethargic and rather non productive during the last week of the year.  I pretty much feel that now and I work from home!  Duh! But I realized that the word 'consistency' never stops echoing in my head when I think about not doing something that I normally do.  And that made me realize I also miss the routine of normal life.  This holiday lull can be very habit forming! So today I wanted to simply impart that realization, but mostly, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contin

  • OAC 230 My Ponderings

    20/12/2016 Duration: 19min

As you can see the title is quite vague because I have so many little tidbits I thought I would string them together into just one. First, I talk about my Christmas project, still not done.  How about you, got one of those or many?  I don't usually make things for Christmas any more.  When my girls were little I made matching nightgowns and robes and dresses, but all my kids are far beyond my creations these days. So when the first new great grand baby arrived on the scene 6 1/2 months ago the bug hit me, sorta.  I had created a project I was most discouraged with and had discarded it in a 'craft to be pile'. But now, just before Christmas, I realize that pieced together top I had originally planned would become a quilt should be finished for my great grand baby for her first Christmas - a short scant 2 weeks away. Thus the project begins.  With only 5 days before Christmas and a whole schedule full of activity, I'm not sure how I'll get it done in time!  Yes, I am pulling my hair out!!! First of all, I knew

  • OAC 229 Dayanna Valenciano Luna and Her Handbags

    15/12/2016 Duration: 23min

My guest today definitely qualifies as a "Powerful Woman Making Things Happen".  When you listen in you'll understand why. I am delighted to introduce you to Dayanna Valenciano Luna the Founder and creator of La Lune Sacs Boutique handbags. Dayanna believes a woman's handbag speaks volume of who she is; she carries her personality not only inside but on the outside. Dayanna will help you make a statement with her Dayanna Valenciano Collections... always classy, elegant and chic. So here in her own words...  The story behind my brand...La Lune Sacs Boutique ... Ever since I can remember, the idea of a perfect life was to be the driver of my own destiny and create the life I envisioned as an entrepreneur to be with my family and follow my dreams. In 2012, after having worked for the aviation industry for 15 years I was frustrated with the instability of the corporate world. That is when I decided to take the driver seat of my professional life and founded La Lune Sacs Boutique, and created my own handbag colle

  • OAC 227 What Did You Just Say?

    13/12/2016 Duration: 21min

Acronyms have become a way of life...crazy abbreviations outside of any that niche industries have created. I imagine most of us have worked in a business or two where certain company abbreviations were well understood. But today with texting and 140 characters of Twitter, we are quickly loosing our social conversational skills. Have you recently got a text with a acronym you don't know? So do you ask, what did you just say? Or do you try to figure it out so you don't look or feel stupid? I've tried that, but for me, I want to know, what did you say??? I know a few that have been around for years: LOL - laugh outloud BTW - by the way ASAP - as soon as possible. ASAP has been a business slang for a long time, but the others have come from our mobile device use. Instead of conversation, some of us talk in short bits and spurts spouting abbreviations. I found a list of 50, here's just 3 I did not know: POV - point of view TWTH - Tuesday Wednesday Thursday SLAP - Sounds like a plan I'm just concerned the phra

  • OAC 223 Tis The Season.

    29/11/2016 Duration: 21min

Do you hear the jingle bells?  See all the trees already decorated and the Christmas lights on the houses?  What about all the stores?  Elves have been everywhere, long before Black Friday :-) That's why I just had to share how this season goes for me. It's all about creating that special Christmas card or two and the fun I have sending them to everyone! It's a long established tradition that I believe goes back to the 1700's!  And so that's what I talk about today is the gift that a Christmas card truly is.  Because it really is so much more than just a card.  It's hearing from you.  You're reaching out and wishing them a happy holiday, a Merry Christmas. How do you feel when you get a card in the mail, any time?  But something about those heartfelt Christmas cards that just adds to the warmness of the holiday. So I invite you to listen in to my story about how I send cards and what my reflection is in this regard.  I talk about Send Out Cards which I have been a part of for over 11 years now and how easy it

  • OAC 221 Have You Heard About "You Matter Marathon"?

    21/11/2016 Duration: 18min

I am beyond grateful that my dear friend, Jane Anderson introduced me to this awesome movement!  And guess what - there is no running, how's that for an awesome marathon??? This is a very special marathon started by Cheryl Rice.  I can't do justice to all that she shares on the site, so I highly recommend you listen in and then click here and join in. I'm already at the starting line.  One thing that I will share from her site is this great quote:  "Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach" —Clarissa Pinkola Estes How often do you feel helpless, that you can't help someone? How often have you, yourself, felt that you just didn't matter?  I am pretty sure the majority of our population, worldwide, has struggled at least once in their life feeling like they didn't matter. This delightful and positive joining of hands is an absolutely brilliantly awesome way to help us all help one another.  Simply by giving someone

  • OAC 219 What? Where's my wallet?

    15/11/2016 Duration: 22min

I'm not really fond of the fact this is the second scary subject I'm bringing to you, but when life lessons happen I have a mission to share it with you. And this is not one I wished I'd ever experienced.  While my children are away doing family duties in another state we were asked to be with our grand daughter while they were gone. Our absolute pleasure, of course.  Plus, puppy and dog duties, too. So being a very independent and active 18-year old she had plans last night.  No biggie, we did too, and we were all to meet up later at her house.  I planned to spend the night and help her with homework and getting off in a timely fashion in the morning. All was going as planned until we got a phone call at 9 PM telling us her wallet had been stolen and...her wallet was attached to her car keys!!! Yikes.  And her license, school ID, base ID, insurance card and her whole young life in this wallet key chain combo. So we had to run out an extra key that only unlocked the car, not configured to drive it, and get th

  • OAC 218 Are YOU 'Cyber' Safe?

    08/11/2016 Duration: 21min

I know everyone is tired of hearing about hacked emails and the FBI's involvement, but today I heard an FBI agent and had to share this information with you. First off, I forgot to mention in my broadcast that even apps can contain viruses.  Did you know that?  I sure never would have suspected that.  But that therein lies the problem.  Those of us that are innocent of using any of our internet for ill gain, are also ignorant, often times, of the dangers. This FBI agent went on to share with us all the different schemes that hackers use. You've probably heard the phrase 'phishing', have you heard that there's 'spear phishing', too!    Phishing is a mass hack without zoning in on a particular group. Spear phishing is very targeted.   So some of the things I learned today that I want to share, is do not post the department you work in if gives you have access to funds or private files. (You will hear the story I heard today on my show that will explain that more.)  Therefore, you might want to be more vague on

  • OAC 216 Are You Drifting?

    01/11/2016 Duration: 20min

Loaded question, huh?  Because you're wondering what in the world am I talking about and you have no idea if you are or you aren't. Here's what my message is all about today.  Are you drifting away from those really awesome good habits you've had and drifting into not so good behavior?  Simple example.  Did you used to have family meals around the dinner table every night?  Did all the family activity start sidelining that?  That happens.  But what about those nights everyone is home and you opt for sitting in front of the TV instead of sitting at the table...you are drifting away from an invaluable habit. Gathering around the table should be far more often than our big holiday Thanksgiving meal.  In all cultures breaking bread together is a sacred and valued practice.  Yet, we all get soooo busy we drift and don't realize the consequences of moving away from it. So I talk about other habits we drift away from.  Ever been totally committed to that work out EVERY day?  And then you take that extended vacation,
