Luke 5:27-32 The church of Jesus is to be a hospital. Sinners saved by grace helping sinners find mercy, love and grace. Jesus was a friend of sinners. We should not only preach the Gospel of Jesus, but practice it as He did. We look at the issue of abortion. We may stand against it, but does the world see the church as a place to find love and hope. We must be pro-life for the born, as well as the unborn. Romans 2:4 As we interact with our culture, Christians should seek to represent God's kindness and grace. As people struggle with issues in life, some raise the question of gender identity, with hopes of "fixing" what is broken. Scripture makes it clear that God created us as male or female. It's sanctification that enables us to become all that God created us to be, not the world's attempts to relieve our struggles. Even so, we need to have empathy towards others. Luke 10:25-37 As we look at the Parable of the Good Samaritan, we see that the man's action went beyond simple compassion. He willingly took on the burdens of someone else. It cost him time and finances, and he was willing to get his hands dirty to care for him. Compassion can also have an emotional toll, but Jesus made it clear that there are eternal rewards.
