The resurrection is the linchpin of Christianity. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, we are the most miserable people on the planet--what hope do we have? Yet, He did rise, and sits at the right hand of the Father, willing to receive whosoever will come to Him.

It's the kind of person Jesus is that makes Him so attractive. Poised, dignified, yet lowly and compassionate. God has ordained Him to be King, and still He humbles himself to the cries of broken humanity. Does He have your heart? Do you rest in the King?

Sometimes the amount of suffering you see in the world can be overwhelming. From children going hungry to other believers facing persecution, the numbers of those suffering makes it seem as if there is nothing we can do. But we can reach one. We can make a difference, one person at a time.

When we don't give our best to God, we can become angry, discouraged, and even spiteful as we compare ourselves to one another. God is a person who gives His very best to those who come to Him. He doesn't go halfway. In light of His character, does He deserve any less than our best? Hear words that will help you grow in becoming more like your Heavenly Father.

Bartimaeus was an outcast--a man with a disability who had been reduced to begging in the street. He'd heard about Jesus and the things that He had done, the people He had healed. So when Jesus is nearby, Bartimaeus desperately shouts, "Have mercy on me!" The crowd tells him to shut up, but the blind man persists. How can he keep quiet? What other hope is there for him? "Have mercy on me!" he cries. The Man named Jesus stops. "Bring him here," he commands. Jesus heard Bartimaeus' cries.

God is for His people. He stands behind them, encouraging them to greater things. He goes before, leading the way, if we let Him. Catch part 2 of "Overcome."

We. Are. Strong. We are more than conquerors the Bible says. Why? Because of our own strength? No. Because when we are weak, He is strong, and His strength is poured through us.

Our God is the God of hope. He is the God of the future. While we mortals deal in the realm of today, limited in our ability to see tomorrow, there is a God in heaven who holds tomorrow in His hand. Anchor yourself in the One who holds tomorrow.

Circumstances can overwhelm and crush us. It's just how it is in this world. We are easily broken, but even then God is there. For the one who seeks His face, God is able to grant grace for the present, and allow us to face this world knowing He is on our side.

What does Christmas teach us about love?

Jesus is hope. In Him, we don't have to be stuck the way we are; we don't have to be separated from God; we don't have to live defeated and broken.

God talks a lot about money. Does He need it? No, but He uses it to test us. Where is our trust? In Him or in our stuff?

In Jesus, there is life. Eternal life, free from worry, free from insecurity, free from the bondage of sin. This is what Jesus said. In Him, there is life.

God is love. He doesn't say only that he has love, but that He is love. As humans, our love is limited. We love those who love us, but our enemies ...? How we need God's love. How we need the freedom to love like He does.
