  • Sermon: You've Got What You Need

    10/10/2019 Duration: 13min

Proper 22, Year C, October 6, 2019, the Rev. Andrew Suitter We can easily over complicate things when we wait for more faith to do something, think a particular way, or reach out to others. Jesus tells the disciples asking for more faith is not at all helpful because just as they were then--as you are now--you have all the faith you need. It only takes a mustard seed of faith to live and walk in love.

  • Sermon: If You Love Me, Then You’ll Do As I Say…?

    28/05/2019 Duration: 15min

When Jesus tells us, “If you love me, then you will do what I tell you to do,” it can be intimidating. It can be intimidating to think about the risks that can come with loving the world as we are called to--in fact--it should put us at some level of discomfort because loving our world in the ways it always needs is not always comfortable. This work calls us to deeper self-examination, greater hospitality, and community; for none of this work is to be done in insolation. Community is at the very heart of the Christian identity.

To what are they calling you into? This sermon is based on Acts 11:1-18 and John 13:31-35, the appointed readings for Sunday May 19, 2019 (Easter 5, Year C).
