In the movie, "The Natural", Roy Hobbs said he wanted people to see him walking down the street and say, "There goes the best that ever played the game." We all want to be remembered for something. Our relationships will always be our greatest legacy.

Adam is in the garden of Eden. He has a job to do. He has food to eat. He has everything he could want or need...almost. The first time in creation when God said something wasn't good is when Adam realized he was alone. God designed us for relationship and He introduced a very important and intimate relationship. Marriage.

Kids grow. Even today with my kids nearly fully grown (physically anyway), people still comment, "I saw Klayton the other day and he is so big!" Physical growth will eventually stop, but our spiritual growth has to continue.

As followers of Jesus, we have an opportunity to stand out and bless the people around us.

Standing out for Jesus means offering mercy to others like Jesus has shown us mercy.

We should stand out for Jesus by accepting His invitation and extending an invitation to others to follow Him.

The very best connection we have to Jesus is God’s Word. If we want to stand out for Jesus, we must stand out by loving His Word.

As followers of Jesus we can stand out for all kinds of reasons. If we want to stand out for Jesus by being like Jesus, we need to stand out for the grace we utilize in dealing with others. Luke 15 is home to one of the most famous stories of all time. It is a story about a father and two sons. The father exercises grace with both his sons in extraordinary ways!

2019 is coming to an end. For some of us it has been a great year, for others we're counting our blessings because it has seemed like "just another year", and for a few we can't wait to leave 2019 in the rear view mirror. No matter how we think the last year has gone, none of us look forward to 2020 hoping it will be a bad year. We are hoping for success, for growth, and for renewal. We are hoping for a great year! God doesn't promise that our next year will be without hardship, but He does have a plan for us to have a foundation from which we can handle anything life throws at us!

Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year. There are kids' programs and holiday parties, shopping and family get togethers...the list goes on and on. And then suddenly, the big day has arrived! In a flash of activity it is gone and we're left asking ourselves: what was that about?

Epiphany used to be a big deal! We don't celebrate this January 6th holiday too much today. If you remember the old 12 Days of Christmas song, you might find it interesting that Epiphany is day 12. It is supposed to commemorate the day the wise men found Jesus. It's a little sad that we've come to ignore the day that remembers people actually finding Jesus...

O Come, O Come Emmanuel is perhaps the oldest Christmas song still popular today. It was written with a simple melody by an unknown monk in the 9th century. It was a way to tell the big story of the Messiah in a simple way that folks who couldn't read or write could learn and understand the promise of Christmas.

Mary Did You Know has kind of a haunting melody and takes us on a behind the scenes tour of what Mary might have been thinking when an angel dropped this Christmas bombshell on her. It reminds us that we are conditioned to see Christmas a certain way even though the reality might not match the expectation.

Isaac Watts & Lowell Mason would collaborate together despite being separated by half a world and nearly a century of time to write one of the most beloved Christmas songs ever. Joy to the World! It should remind us how God has had a plan through all of time to redeem us!

There is one central teaching/belief to all of Christianity: Jesus raised from the dead. Without the resurrection, nothing else matters all that much.
