Black Panther made history as the first superhero-based movie to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home each topped $1 billion worldwide. Endgame actually did it twice on the way to becoming the highest-grossing film in global box office history! After The Infinity Saga came to a close, we learned all about Phase Four via Marvel Studios' Comic-Con and D23 Expo announcements. We spent a month worrying that Spider-Man was leaving the MCU before Disney and Sony finally got a deal done. Then, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige picked up the additional title of Marvel Chief Creative Officer, making him responsible for all Marvel creative on the big screen, small screen, and on the comic book page. We discuss all of these stories and more in this 2019 year-in-review!

Marvel Television is no more. We already knew the division was being absorbed into Marvel Studios, but now we know much more about how the consolidation is taking shape. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige already wears a lot of hats and he just got several more, plus an additional title. As Chief Creative Officer, Marvel, Feige will bring Marvel Television and animation under the Marvel Studios banner, putting him in charge of all things pertaining to Marvel movies and television/streaming. Feige will also oversee creative and editorial for Marvel's publishing branch, which includes comics. What does this all mean for the present and future of Marvel? It was a massive week in Marvel Studios news! Spider-Man will remain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for now, after Sony Pictures and Disney signed a new deal. Kevin Feige sounds like he's okay with the idea of Tom Holland jumping from the MCU to Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters (and perhaps back to the MCU from there).
