The 76ers season came to a close Thursday night with a 118 to 115 game six loss to the New York Knicks. New York opened a 22 point lead in the first quarter but the Sixers were able to rally thanks to 5 threes in the second quarter from Buddy Hield. Philly would go into halftime with a 54-51 lead.  Then Knicks would slowly but surely take control in the second half. Jalen Brunson continued his dominant play scoring 14 of his game-high 41 points in the 4th quarter.  The 76ers stayed in the game through the second half, but the dagger play came with :25 left in regulation. After Tyrese Maxey converted an And-1 play on the Sixers’ end, the Knicks Josh Hart took advantage of a Sixers defensive breakdown. Nico Batum and Kelly Oubre got caught up in a bad switch, leaving Hart WIDE OPEN at the top of the key where he would drain a 3-pointer to give the Knicks a114-111 lead and the Sixers were unable to recover after that.  Joel Embiid scored 39 points before fouling out in the final seconds of the game. The Philadelphia 76ers fall to the New York Knicks 97-92 as Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey combined for just six 4th quarter points. The loss drops the Sixers in a 3-1 hole as the series shifts back to New York for Game 5 Tuesday Night.Overall, Maxey scored 23 points on 8-of-21 shooting and 3-of-9 from three. Embiid scored a team-high 27 points on 7-of-19 shooting. Embiid also made a very questionable decision with :25 left in the game and the Sixers down 4. Embiid received an inbounds pass on the baseline of the Sixers' offensive end and instead of taking a WIDE OPEN JUMPER, he put the ball on the floor and went to the rim where his layup attempt was blocked by the Knicks' Precious Achiuwa.Segment 1: Embiid and Maxey can't vanish in the 4th quarter of a playoff game especially AT HOME! Embiid was helped by 25 points from Tyrese Maxey and the best effort from their bench in the series. Through games 1 and 2, the Sixers bench scored a combined 17 points. Tonight, Philly’s bench scored 18! Nick Nurse made an adjustment to try to get the bench going. Cam Payne got his first run of the series and rewarded his coach for going to him.
