October 28, 2018-5 PM Mass at OLGC
29/10/2018 Duration: 08minFr. Pierre preached at all of the masses at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church this past weekend. In this homily from the 5 PM Mass, Fr. Pierre discusses the missionary nature of the church and encourages the congregants to look for the Bartimaeuses in their own lives that they might lead to an encounter with Jesus. 30th SUNDAY YEAR B A strange thing happens in the gospel today: people who are already with Jesus, who are following Him on the road, try to prevent someone new from meeting Jesus. Maybe they feel this blind man is bothering them with his shouting, or bothering Jesus. But isn't this a strange attitude? This is not a crowd of skeptics or unbelievers. They may not all be disciples, in the fully committed sense of the word, but they're all at least interested in the Person of Jesus, and what He is saying about the Kingdom of God. Many of them, no doubt, have directly benefited from His ministry of teaching, healing, casting out demons. Why would they not want these blessings to be sha

September 9, 2018-5 PM Mass at OLGC
10/09/2018 Duration: 09minFr. Pierre Ingram preached at all of the masses at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church this past weekend. In this homily from the 5 PM Mass, Fr. Pierre discusses the great cost of Jesus's personal investment in our salvation. NOTES: This is not a typical miracle story. How Jesus heals is unusual, and how people respond to the healing is not what Jesus wanted them to do. Notice first of all that what Jesus does for this deaf-mute person differs from what people requested or anticipated. Initially, what the man's friends and neighbors ask Jesus to do is to "lay his hand" on the man. No doubt they wanted to see a quick, dramatic healing, right there in front of their eyes. But Jesus doesn't follow their script. He has his own agenda. He takes the man aside for a private but intense encounter. The evangelist describes it vividly as a series of more earthy gestures than we're used to from Jesus: putting his fingers in his ears and on his tongue, spitting, looking up to heaven, groaning, speaking a memorable word in A

July 15, 2018-5 PM Mass at OLGC
16/07/2018 Duration: 08minFr. Pierre preached at all of the masses at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church this past weekend. In this homily from the 5 PM Mass, Fr. Pierre discusses what is needed to be a disciple of Jesus. All that is needed to spread the gospel message is to be called and sent by Jesus Christ. The messenger is far less important than the message. ---------------------------------------------- 15th SUNDAY YEAR B "Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out." I'm struck by the word used to indicate how Jesus made his first apostles, the verb "summoned." That's a very authoritative word, a strong word, a word that puts Jesus completely in charge of this mission. He's not having a dialogue or a consultation with them! Jesus has a word to deliver, he's got power to deliver, and he chooses the ones who will deliver them exactly as He wishes. The word send is a strong, authoritative word too. It means that they're going to be his representatives. His authority will be behind everything they say and do. There's another

June 17, 2018-5 PM Mass at OLGC
20/06/2018 Duration: 07minFr. Pierre preached at all of the Masses at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church this past weekend. In this homily from the 5 PM Mass, Fr. Pierre reflects on the readings (EZ 17:22-24; PS 92:2-3, 13-14, 15-16; 2 COR 5:6-10; MK 4:26-34) of this day while telling the congregants, "For the kingdom of God to exist not just in the world, but in my life, I have to activate my power as the soil." We must embrace and nourish the seed of faith that God has planted in our lives. HOMILY NOTES God is telling us through the parables in today's readings that in his heart there is a longing to do something great, something magnificent and majestic. Like creating a huge tree that can give shade and shelter to all kinds of little creatures. But he doesn't just want to do it all on his own. He has no need to do that for his own sake: he is complete and perfect in himself. And he already has a whole universe that constantly declares his glory, night and day. He wants to do something great in us. For our sake.

Divine Mercy Sunday-3 PM Mass at OLGC
09/04/2018 Duration: 07minIn this homily for Divine Mercy Sunday, Fr. Pierre discusses the heart of Jesus as the secret key that unlocks the mysteries of the Father's redemptive love for us. Friends share secrets with each other. What Jesus shares with Thomas and his other friends in the Upper Room today is his most intimate secret: his burning, thorn-crowned, crucified, pierced Heart. It's that Heart that saved the world. This is what Christianity is all about. There's no way to make sense of it all without this. This is the secret key that unlocks the mysteries of God, and the mysteries of the world he put us in. The Heart of Jesus is like a divine-and-human fusion reactor that has enough power to transform the whole created universe. And that transformation begins when we say yes to the love that is in his Heart. The visible Heart of our Savior is the perfect manifestation, in space and time, of an invisible Heart, the Heart of his Father. The Father's Heart is full of a love for us that is: • warm • tender • intensely personal (n

Homily from the Good Friday Service at OLGC
31/03/2018 Duration: 05minFr. Pierre presents a moving reflection on the crucifixion of Jesus in this homily from the Good Friday service at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. We have witnessed the Downfall of Love. Love has fallen. The King of Love has fallen. I guess this is what you get for loving too much for loving too freely. They take you, and lift you up on a tree, and strike you, and pierce you, until your blood spills everywhere. You fall like a ripe fruit, and break open on the ground. Where will we go, now that Love has fallen? What rocks, what cave can hide us? Because if Love has fallen, if the heartbeat of the world has stopped, if the Life of life itself has ended, then destruction is sure to follow. We're lost. We will all turn against each other, and tear each other to pieces, and then night shall reign. But I see a woman and a young man standing there, close, very close, too close to the Cross.
