The Formula Drift professional drift championship weekend, "Judgement day" gets underway with qualifying on he big oval near Los Angeles. Chris Forsberg can clinch his first championship if Ryan Tuerck doesn't score at least five more points in Friday night qualifying. Forsberg, the Drift Alliance co-founder and popular driver of the Maxxis Tires/NOS Energy Drink Nissan 350Z has dominated the competition all year, but while Forsberg's points lead is nearly unassailable, four drivers are separated by just 40 points so the competition for the remaining championship podium positions should be epic, and it al gets underway with qualifying,

The championship race begins its stretch run on the biggest oval the pro drifters see all year. Rain slowed last year's event, but the Pacific Northwest has been under a near Summer long heat wave and more of the same is expected for Saturday's event

Live Blog Radio makes a rare prime time (9:30p PDT, 12:30a EDT) appearance as The Formula Drift Flying Circus rolls the dice at Las Vegas Motors Speedway for round 4 of the 2009 professional drift championship. Darren McNamara will attempt to extend his points lead over Ryan Tuerck and Chris Forsberg. Last year Toshiki Yoshioka was the surprise winner. As only a part time competitor in the series, his victory may actually have decided the championship. He took valuable winner's points out of he series at a critical moment. Samuel Hubinette was second in 2008, and finished second in the championship, to Tanner Foust. Hubinette is in the championship picture, currently fourth in points, but Foust has faded since his podium start at Long Beach in April. Gary Keith and Mickey Andrade host the live program.

The Formula Drift Flying Circus visits its home, Road Atlanta, scene of the first Formula Drift pro drift championship in 2004. Roat Atlanta is known for its high speed entry, changes in elevation, and "the keyhole" loop where this round of the championship is often decided. In 2009, Ryan Tuerck arrives with the points lead with two time champions, Samuel Hubinette and Tanner Foust in close pursuit. Foust won here last year, on the way to defending his 2007 championship.
