Douglas R. Oberhelman is chairman and chief executive officer of Caterpillar Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. Oberhelman joined Caterpillar in 1975 and has held a number of positions in finance, marketing, and operations worldwide. In October 2009, the Caterpillar Board of Directors named Oberhelman vice chairman and CEO-Elect. He was elected CEO and a member of the Board of Directors in July 2010 and became chairman in November of that year.
