Billy Porter is ready to “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” his way onto the big screen! The Emmy-winning Pose actor, 50, confirmed on Saturday during a panel at the 20th New Yorker Festival that he will play the Fairy Godmother in Sony’s upcoming live-action Cinderellamovie. PEOPLE confirmed in April that Camila Cabello would play the titular princess in the re-imagining of the classic story, helmed by Blockers director and Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon and based on an idea from James Corden. Deadline reported on Friday that Broadway veteran (and the voice of Frozen‘s Queen Elsa) Idina Menzel was in talks to join the cast as well, playing Evelyn, the evil stepmother. Though plot details haven’t been released, the story is reportedly a modern re-imagining of the classic fairytale in which an orphaned girl becomes a princess. Cabello’s Cuban and Mexican roots will likely play a part in the modern aspect of the story, and The Hollywood Reporter said she will also be involved with the film’s music.

You could say T.I. was ahead of the curve in looking for and promoting a female rapper during one of the more lean years in hip-hop gender parity. Unfortunately, that curve threw the King of the South for a curve in the form of the Mouth From the South—if the “South” was “Down Under”—problematic rapper Iggy Azalea. “I’m still actively looking for another female rapper who can undo the blunder of Iggy Azalea,” the Grand Hustle Records honcho admitted. “That is the tarnish of my legacy as far as [being] a [music] executive is concerned. Rihanna did an interview with VOGUE recently and confirmed that she did in fact turn down an offer to performing during the Super Bowl halftime performance last year in support of Colin Kaepernick. “I couldn’t dare do that,” she said in a recent story she said. “For what? Who gains from that? Not my people.” Many began praising Riri for being a “real one” and standing with Kap, especially since JAY-Z announced his controversial partnership with the NFL recently. People are accusing Hov of turning his back on the former quarter back, although he has refuted these claims. But The Blast reports that the singer made those comments without knowing the Roc Nation head honcho was partnering with the league. Sources say she had “no idea” they were in negotiation to begin with. Which is believable, because Jigga moves in silence. Plus, Rihanna is still signed to Roc Nation so it wouldn’t make sense for her to be throwing shade.

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine will learn his fate a week before Christmas. The rapper, real name Daniel Hernandez — who pleaded guilty to various charges, including racketeering in September — will be sentenced on December 18 at 10 a.m. Tekashi’s attorneys requested the rapper’s sentencing be expedited in a letter to United States District Judge Hon. Paul A. Engelmayer. The case has received attention for Tekashi’s celebrity and his willingness to act as a witness for the state. Part of his testimony featured details from his life of crime with a violent street gang, including getting abducted at gunpoint amid a dispute between warring factions of the crew. He faces a minimum 47-year sentence, but could receive lighter punishment in exchange for his testimony. During his testimony, the rapper and admitted Bloods gang member claimed that Washington Heights-born, Bronx-raised hip-hop artist Cardi B and Bronx rapper Jim Jones are also Bloods gang members.

R. Kelly and his attorneys are fighting to get the singer released on bond, but the prosecution believes that this would put his victims and their families in danger.  According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the prosecution claims that R. Kelly will be a threat if he's released from jail. To attempt to prove this, they pointed to his history of intimidating witnesses and victims. The prosecution showed the court typewritten letters to an unnamed accuser's lawyer. In the letters, Kelly threatens to release "compromising and potentially embarrassing photographs" if she pursued a criminal case against him. To halt Kelly from claiming that his learning disabilities would prevent him from writing the letters, the prosecution provided the judge with screenshots of Kelly's conversation with the woman and the pictures that he planned to release. A woman who says Antonio Brown made an unwanted sexual advance toward her in 2017 and was fired after not reciprocating received what she characterized as intimidating texts from the Patriots wide receiver on Wednesday night in the wake of a Sports Illustrated story detailing her allegations, according to her lawyer in a letter sent to the NFL on Thursday evening, which included screen shots of the messages. The woman previously told SI that Brown had hired her two years ago to paint a mural of him in his home but “ghosted” her after she ignored his advance. On Wednesday night, the woman says, she received a group text message that appeared to come from the same phone number Brown provided to her in 2017. The text chain, with four other phone numbers on it, included photos of her and her children, with the person she believes is Brown encouraging others in the group to investigate the woman. DALLAS — The case was unusual from the very beginning: An off-duty police officer in Dallas said she came home from work one night last year, and, believing she had found an intruder inside her apartment, shot the man inside. And the man she shot was not an intruder, but her neighbor, Botham Shem Jean, a 26-year-old black accountant who was watching television and eating ice cream in the apartment he rented directly above Ms. Guyger’s. On Tuesday, Mr. Jean’s family braced themselves for the possibility that his death would be treated like many others across the country, in which police officers have been cleared of wrongdoing in the killings of unarmed black men. But that moment never came: A Dallas County jury found Ms. Guyger, 31, guilty of murder, choosing the more serious conviction over a lesser option of manslaughter.

Uncle Luke has a bone to pick with Jay-Z. Last week, the NFL announced that Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will be the performers for the halftime show at the 2020 Super Bowl, which will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Fla., on Feb. 2, 2020. When asked about Colin Kaepernick during a press conference, Jay revealed that this is his plan to help the league’s social injustice initiative. This sparked a controversial debate globally as folks questioned whether this was a business move on the rapper’s end or if he is really for social reform. Actor Malik Yoba stormed off the set during an on-camera interview with The Root Friday after being asked about allegations that he solicited sex from a minor who engaged in survival sex work in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The walkout was also seemingly triggered by questions about his motives for publishing an Instagram post that declared his love and attraction for trans women, which has since been deleted. During the conversation at The Root’s studios, The Root asked Yoba to respond to a Facebook post by Mariah Lopez Ebony, in which she accuses the actor of soliciting sex from her at ages 13 and 16. Yoba said, “I don’t know the woman,” and “I have no idea who she is.” In a phone interview with The Root on Saturday, Lopez, now 34, stood by her claims, saying her first sex act with Yoba took place at age 13, and the second act occurred at age 16. Last week, a conversation between Jim Jones and Mel Murda calling for 6ix9ine to get "violated" leaked onto the Internet. Now, it appears that the FBI released new audio between Mel Murda and 6ix9ine's former manager, Shotti. The transcript of the conversation previously was released online following the arrest of the Tr3yway camp. In the phone call, you could hear him saying, "I'mma feed him." Prosecutors said they believed this meant "feeding" him bullets.  The conversation occurred right after 6ix9ine's second interview at the Breakfast Club. This was also around the same time that the rapper announced that he was parting ways with Tr3yway. Much of the dialogue between Shotti and Mel Murda revolve around 6ix9ine "dry snitching" on The Breakfast Club. While Mel was evidently upset about the whole thing, Shotti's heard laughing throughout the conversation. Shotti later discusses setting up an interview with TMZ to respond to the claims 6ix9ine made in that interview. 

The government had a key cooperating witness in the investigation of the Nine Trey Bloods before Tekashi69 flipped — the Brooklyn rapper’s driver. The driver, Jorge Rivera, testified Monday that he began helping the feds in May 2018, after he was thrown in immigration jail because he is an undocumented immigrant. He was released in July of last year and returned to his job driving the rowdy rapper. Later that month, Rivera was behind the wheel with Tekashi in the backseat of a Chevy Tahoe when they were rear-ended. Security cameras in the ride captured the dramatic moment when two men identified by Tekashi as Anthony “Harv” Ellison and “Sha” kidnapped the “GUMMO” artist at gunpoint. “I thought we were going to get killed. And we would be robbed,” Rivera said on the stand in Manhattan Federal Court through a Spanish interpreter.

Rapper Tekashi 69 on Thursday named fellow rapper Jim Jones as a member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang, an admission which stunned the court and people following the trial on social media. Tekashi, whose birth name is Daniel Hernandez, is on trial for racketeering, drug trafficking, and other crimes, and was asked by prosecutors who Jones was. “He's a retired rapper,” Hernandez said in a Manhattan federal courtroom. “Is he a member of the Nine Trey Bloods gang?” prosecutors asked. Hernandez replied, “Yes.” Hernandez also named Cardi B as a member of the gang. Antonio Brown, as detailed on The MMQB, has been sued by his former trainer, Britney Taylor, for sexual battery and related claims. Taylor, a former gymnast and operator of a training center in Memphis, claims that Brown raped her in his Miami home last year and inflicted other sexual harms against her in his Pittsburgh home in 2017. Taylor’s complaint also includes screenshots of what her attorney describes as text messages sent by Brown to Taylor. In those purported texts, Brown seems threatening and volatile, and he also directs obscenities at Taylor. At this time, those messages have not been authenticated. Also, the context is unclear as they appear to be parts of longer “back-and-forth” conversations. Through his representatives, Brown categorically rejects the accusations of sexual misconduct. Brown’s camp depicts Taylor as knowingly lying about her relationship with Brown in order to inflict harm on his NFL career.
