CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Grammy-nominated rapper DaBaby was detained and cited for drugs late Monday evening after performing in Charlotte.  The artist, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, was initially arrested after his performance at Bojangles Coliseum, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said. Those charges were later dropped in lieu of two citations. DaBaby is incensed at cops in Charlotte, North Carolina ... saying they were up to no good when they swarmed his car and busted him for weed. DaBaby had just performed at the Bojangles' Coliseum Monday night, left the venue and got in his car in the parking lot when, according to him, 15 cops swarmed his vehicle, searched it and found weed. The rapper clearly was not having it, because he was cited not just for weed possession but also for resisting an officer. He was not arrested ... just cuffed, cited and released. Two years after several women accused Russell Simmons of sexually assaulting them, Oprah Winfrey is putting on her executive producer hat to help them tell their stories. AppleTV+ acquired the documentary, and it would be directed by Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering. The logline says the film follows, “a brilliant former music executive who grapples with whether to go public with her story of assault and abuse by a notable figure in the music industry. The film is a profound examination of race, gender, class and intersectionality, and the toll assaults take on their victims and society at large.” It was announced that the documentary will debut at the Sundance Film Festival at the top of 2020. Bill Cosby lost his bid to overturn his sexual assault conviction Tuesday, as an appeals court upheld the verdict in the first celebrity trial of the #MeToo era. In its ruling, the Superior Court affirmed the right of prosecutors to call other accusers to bolster their case — the same issue fought over in movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault trial, now set for Jan. 6. “This decision is a reminder that no one is above the law,” Andrea Constand, the victim in Cosby’s case, said in a text message to The Associated Press on Tuesday.
