Gervonta Davis has been arrested for domestic violence for roughing up his ex-girlfriend at a celebrity basketball game in Florida, cops confirm. The boxing superstar -- currently the WBA lightweight champion -- surrendered to the Coral Gables PD on Tuesday for the Feb. 1 incident. Cops say the 25-year-old is facing one count of "simple battery domestic violence." As we previously reported, Davis was seen grabbing and ripping his ex-girlfriend -- the mother of his child -- out of her seat during a heated altercation at the game. The argument continued backstage. Cops say, "As a result of an ongoing investigation after being notified through social media and the victim, on Feb. 1 2020, [Davis] was observed battering his former girlfriend whom [sic] have child together." "[Davis] surrendered himself, to the Coral Gables Police detectives assigned to the case." For his part, Davis put out a statement over the weekend denying striking the woman. Last month a message from either Kodak Black or one of his handlers surfaced, where it said the rapper was being abused in prison and wasn’t getting the proper medical attention.  Now his mother, Marcelene Simmons, has recruited famed attorney Benjamin Crump for answers, and they held a press conference on Wednesday. In November, Black was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison for lying on a federal gun application. The 22-year-old has been locked up at Miami Federal Department of Corrections, where he claimed he was drugged by correctional officers there. “On October 29th I was laced with an unknown substance here in Miami FDC,” read the message from last month. “That substance gave me an out of body experience and had me feeling like I was possessed and dying slowly.” Then in a message that was posted to Black’s Instagram page on Jan. 17, it said the rapper had been denied a visit with his mother and gotten some of his privileges taken away for no reason.  “They are strategically killing me slowl

Oprah Winfrey has dropped out as an executive producer on a documentary that delves into sexual misconduct allegations against Russell Simmons — but not because he pressured her, she says. The media mogul, 65, spoke to The New York Times in an interview published Friday in which she alleged Simmons, 62, tried to convince her to back out of the film, named On The Record, as an executive producer. New Orleans police on Thursday issued an arrest warrant for Cleveland Brownswide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on a complaint of simple battery. Video surfaced this week showing Beckham slapping the buttocks of a Superdome security guard in the LSU locker room after the Tigers' national championship victory over Clemson on Monday in New Orleans. According to records obtained by NOLA.com, the security guard had been telling LSU players to put out cigars in the locker room before he was slapped. The New Orleans Police Department public affairs office confirmed that the security guard filed the complaint. Louisiana statute defines simple battery as battery committed without the consent of the victim. Punishment in Louisiana can include a fine of no more than $1,000 and imprisonment for no more than six months, or both. Rappers Jay-Z and Yo Gotti helped more than two dozen Mississippi inmates file a lawsuit claiming people are dying because the state "has failed to fund its prisons." Yo Gotti and Team Roc-- the philanthropic arm of Jay-Z's entertainment company, Roc Nation -- were able to get legal representation for the inmates to be able to sue, Yo Gotti's publicist Didier Morais told CNN.  There have been at least five prisoner deaths in the state since late December-- four of which were during violent disturbances, officials said earlier this month.  And it's not the first time. In August 2018, Mississippi Department of Corrections CommissionerPelicia E. Hall asked the FBI to help investigate the deaths of 15 inmates, which all took place within a month.  The new lawsuit called the recent deaths a "culmination of years of severe understaffing and neglect." Music mogul Damon Dash has responded to a $50 million lawsuit alleging sexual battery by photographer Monique Bunn, and said via Instagram that he is the victim of an extortion plot. Bunn’s legal action alleges that back in April, when Dash hired her to shoot material in Los Angeles for his new Poppington clothing line, he assaulted her in his home, according to Hip Hop Wired. Bunn alleges that Dash had been smoking weed and drinking all day and later entered the bedroom where she was sleeping and fondled her. Rapper and Nashville native David "Young Buck" Brown was arrested in Cheatham County on a fugitive of justice charge for child abandonment out of Georgia. Brown was taken into custody on Dec. 20 after an officer pulled over a driver of a black Ford F-150 who appeared to be talking on his cell phone while driving. The officer identified the driver and Brown, who was a passenger. The officer said the vehicle smelled like marijuana when he approached it. When asked by the officer if there was marijuana in the truck, Brown reportedly handed him a rolled joint and said it was his. A computer check through dispatch showed Brown had a full extradition warrant out of Newton County, Georgia for child abandonment. Brown was placed in custody before police conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search, officers found a clear baggy containing approximately three grams of marijuana on the passenger side of the vehicle.
