  • Live Delay - Ep 28 - God Bows To Math; Old Growth Cola

    26/07/2013 Duration: 56min

God Bows To Math: Taking their name from a song by The Minutemen, Auckland’s God Bows To Math are fairly regular visitors to Australian shores. Proudly DIY, the New Zealand trio have performed their unique noise adventures at over 100 performances during their four year career. Their self-titled debut hits shelves in 2011 and they’ve recently released a new 7inch single in the lead up to their forthcoming sophomore record. This performance from The Waiting Room in Brisbane back in April 2013 shows every angle of this exciting – and noisy – rock band. Recorded and mixed by Josh Watson. Recorded at The Waiting Room, Brisbane. Old Growth Cola: Allegedly Brisbane’s ‘strangest’ pop group, Old Growth Cola are a fascinating and not always predictable band who like to indulge in layer weird sounds over traditional pop melodies. It’s a recipe for fascination and Live Delay managed to catch them in their element at the 4ZZZ BaZZar in West End in mid-2012. Recorded by Sky Kirkham. Mixed by Henry Mills. Airing det

  • Live Delay - Ep 23 - Holy Balm; Four Door

    28/06/2013 Duration: 55min

Holy Balm: Psychedelic electric jams, punctuated by drum machines, acoustic percussion and waves of synth, Sydney’s Holy Balm bring their minimalist dance music to the Live Delay stage, ripping it up in front of a packed house at 4ZZZ’s Get Happier Fest back in August 2012. Recorded and mixed by Andrew McLellan, 2012 Recorded at The Black Bear Lodge, Brisbane, August 2012 Four Door: Four Door describe themselves in four words – techno, synths, creeps, bleeps. And I guess that’s a very accurate although simplistic description of the group’s housey weirdness. Four Door are actually Jonathan Hochman and Matthew Hopkins, two dudes from Sydney who are fond of things electronic. You might recognise Hochman from his duties with Sydney trio, Holy Balm, whereas Hopkins plays in Naked On The Vague. Four Door have played with the likes of Blank Realm, The Garbage and The Flowers and New War, but came up to Brisbane in October last year to play the Lost Race Festival at the Cooparoo Bowls Club in the city’s inner

  • Live Delay - Ep 22 - Mere Women; Dreamtime

    28/06/2013 Duration: 55min

Mere Women: Mere Women are Katrina Byrne, Amy Wilson and Flyn McKinnirery, a talented trio from Marrickville, Sydney. They’ve been kicking aorund the scene for a few years now and brought out the well received OLD LIFE in mid-2012 – a noisy, laconic adventures of post-punk with some gothic undertones thrown in for good measure. They’ve got an interesting sound and make for an excellent live group and you should definitely tune in to check out this set from their 2012 Old Life record launch in Sydney. Our good friends FBi radio were on hand to capture the set and it’s via them that we can bring it to your eardrums! Recorded and produced by FBi Radio, Sydney. Graciously shared with Live Delay. Dreamtime: Dreamtime have been kicking around Brisbane for a few years now, putting out a well received self titled LP in late 2011, and following it up with the sprawling noise of SUN in late 2012 – a great sophomore record filled with distant soundscapes, wailing guitars and percussive elements that herald an immin
