  • Spring 2022: Session 216 (Everybody's Got Some S--t with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    29/04/2022 Duration: 11min

Comparison is a thief of joy. But we're human, and so it's normal sometimes to compare ourselves to others. However, comparing yourself to others will only leave you feeling frustrated and anxious. Furthermore, it doesn't help in creating the life you want. It instead takes away irreplaceable time and energy that could have been better spent elsewhere. Here's the thing; there will always be someone more intelligent, attractive, or successful than you. The trick is understanding the unique value that you bring to the table. Remember that nothing and nobody is perfect; everything is special in its own way. So, instead of believing that the grass might be greener on the other side, try and nurture the grass that's on your side of the fence. After all, the grass is greenest where it's being properly cared for. Check out the full session notes: www.evingerleanworldwide.com/216. • Spring 2022: Session 215 (Please STOP Sitting On Your Dreams with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    22/04/2022 Duration: 20min

A typical human being dreams an average of about 4 to 6 dreams per night. If you can experience at least four dreams a night, why is it that you’re still stuck on that one idea that failed to materialize? How you want your life to look doesn’t have to be constant. Things change, and new passions are discovered daily. Don’t limit yourself to a certain number of objectives just because that’s what society dictates. If you feel like the path you’re currently on is not the right one for you, by all means, change it. The prospect will seem daunting but trust me; you won’t regret it. Check out the full session notes: www.evingerleanworldwide.com/215. • Spring 2022: Session 214 (New Friends or Nah? with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    15/04/2022 Duration: 21min

Few things make a more influential impact in life than supportive and loving friends. Being able to depend on someone and having that person count on you in return is one massive flex. People might walk in and out of your life, but true friends will stay, and if they do leave, they'll have left a lasting footprint in your heart. That said, the question is, do we really need any more friends, especially as we grow older? If so, when do we stop making new friends? For me, building relationships with new people never stops. And while it might be different from how we made friends as kids, the same principles apply. Find people who have something in common with you or are working towards the same goals as you. But just never stop. You never know; your new friend might be the missing piece of your success puzzle. Check out the full session notes: www.evingerleanworldwide.com/214. • Spring 2022: Session 213 (Getting Out of 50k of Debt in Two Years with Ja'Net Adams)

    08/04/2022 Duration: 19min

Nobody likes being in debt, yet many of us struggle with it most of our lives. Unfortunately, debt has a way of piling up faster than many realize. For example, most students don't take their student loans seriously until they hit unmanageable figures. If you're wrestling with student loans, mortgages, car loans, or credit cards, it can feel like there's no way to dig yourself out. But it's possible. People have done it, but it all starts with crafting your own get-out-of-debt plan. Add in some fundamental changes to your lifestyle, and you'll get out of debt faster than most people do.Nonetheless, the thing to note here is that turning around your financial situation doesn't happen without a great deal of work. It requires thorough planning, commitment, and strong self-discipline. You can do it. Your future self is counting on you. Check out the full session notes: www.evingerleanworldwide.com/213. • Spring 2022: Session 212 (How to Accept Change with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    01/04/2022 Duration: 21min

Change is good. In fact, change is everywhere and happens every day. It can be as major as changing careers or as subtle as taking a different route to work or moving the furniture in your house. I know you already know this, but change is also inevitable and scary. And as humans, we are creatures of habit, so we don’t always like things that mess up our peace and security. But whether you like change or dislike what it does to your life, I believe we need to embrace it. It may impose better habits upon you, but it can also be stressful, destructive, and even career-ending. The good news is that you have control over how you anticipate and react to it. The even better news is that once you embrace it, you’ll adopt a whole new mindset. A mindset that will help you stop pursuing things that aren’t working, start doing things that could work better, and keep doing the things that work the best. Check out the full session notes: www.evehudsonphd.com/212. • Spring 2022: Session 211 (Are You Choosing Your Life? with Dr. Eve)

    25/03/2022 Duration: 12min

“You are the sum of all your choices.” The first time I heard this statement all those many years ago, it didn’t sit well with me. I felt like, as a first-gen, life just happens to you, and there’s nothing you can do about it. But now that I think of it, I realize just how accurate the statement actually is. First, I am where I am today not because of the family I was born in, nor is it because of the friends around me every day. I am where I am because of all the choices I’ve made in life, both the good and the bad. So, whenever things don’t go your way, do not look on the outside; revisit the choices you made on the inside. Always celebrate the good choices and resist the temptation to be too hard on yourself for the bad ones. I believe that life is only as beautiful as how you choose to make it. • Spring 2022: Session 210 (History Notes: Who is Going to Look Out for You? with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    18/03/2022 Duration: 24min

We are taking this back to when I used to find myself feeling like once I graduated from college, especially in professional settings, people didn’t have my back. I spent a lot of time thinking that something was wrong with me, too. It was this unsettling feeling that because I was “grown” I was supposed to have the answers, but in several cases, I didn’t find that to be true. It made it hard to reach out, and even when I reached out, I'd find myself discouraged at the onset thinking that no one cared and would be dismissive. Even when I first started entrepreneurship, I had an experience that was an awakening for me about having my own back. So, then, what is one supposed to do in situations like this? • Spring 2022: Session 209 (History Notes: Giving Up vs. Letting Go with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    11/03/2022 Duration: 18min

We're pulling from the archives with this one today. Remembering that time that I found myself in a space where I was so overwhelmed and needed to do something different. So, I decided that I would write down everything that I had going on in my life and figure out which of those things I would eliminate. Yet, in doing so, I found myself pondering a question: "How do you know if you're giving up or letting go?" As I was processing this question for months, I got some answers and I’d like to share them with you. Check out the full session notes: www.evehudsonphd.com/209. • Spring 2022: Session 208 (What You Ought to Know About Black Women with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    04/03/2022 Duration: 17min

We just finished an incredible Black History Month, but... the Black celebration ain't over. Why so? Now, it's Women's History Month, and I'm excited to celebrate Black women with today's show. Having to deal with racism and sexism all at the same time is far from easy. A black woman will be discriminated against for being black and for being a woman, even though she exists in both identities at all times. Despite the challenges and obstacles in our paths, we have accomplished so much and continue to make remarkable strides. We are business owners, highly educated, ambitious, and most importantly, dope. Check out the full session notes: www.evehudsonphd.com/208. • Spring 2022: Session 207 (Getting Through the Storms with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    25/02/2022 Duration: 12min

We all have troubles in our lives; Challenges that test our emotional, mental, and sometimes our physical stamina. For some of us, the troubles are life-threatening, while it’s not that serious for others. What we can all agree on is that there’s always something. In fact, we can go as far as to state that problems are forever. You can start a new week and have problems on Monday morning. Step out of the house and find a problem in your mailbox. As First-Gens, overcoming obstacles in life can be pretty complicated. The good news is we all can summon the courage to face them. The even better news is that troubles are like storms. It doesn’t matter how long they last, but they always pass. Check out the full session notes: www.evehudsonphd.com/207. • Spring 2022: Session 206 (Might Need to Check Yourself with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    18/02/2022 Duration: 15min

Have you ever found yourself in a situation that you just couldn't get past? We all have our own special way of doing things, but there comes a time when life forces us to start doing things differently. Changing the way we’re used to doing things is like stepping into the twilight, a place where nobody knows what to expect. The problem with this normal way of thinking is that it keeps us safe and that's not always a good thing. Being comforted is fine, feeling comfortable is needed but allowing complacency is where you should draw the line. Although comfort brings with it a sense of security, it can also prevent us from being curious, something we are naturally born to be. Check out the full session notes: www.evehudsonphd.com/206. • Spring 2022: Session 205 (Why You Should NOT Expect Your Friends to Support Your Business with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    11/02/2022 Duration: 24min

Here’s the thing, the biggest disappointments in life are often the result of misplaced expectations. This is especially true for relationships and business expectations– expecting too much from others is a recipe for disappointment. Where am I going with all of this? Well, you shouldn’t expect your friends to be your customers. Yes, you shouldn’t expect them to buy anything from you. They might choose to buy from you, but it shouldn’t be a requirement. Higher than normal expectations can do a lot of damage to your relationship. And as humans, we often miss the mark and shatter the expectation to bits. So, release the expectations altogether, go out and find customers outside your immediate circle. It’s more sustainable and rarely leads to strained relationships. • Spring 2022: Session 204 ("I'm Sick of You!" with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    04/02/2022 Duration: 09min

When I was in graduate school, I had a communication (or rather miscommunication) situation that really threw me off. I've never talked about it until now. Yet, for whatever reason, it seems like the perfect time to share the story (and of course the lessons learned). And because, at the end of the day, communication is so important in every space and relationship. Check out the full session notes: www.evehudsonphd.com/204. • Spring 2022: Session 203 (Celebrating 5 Years and Happy Birthday with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    27/01/2022 Duration: 16min

It's THAT special session that happens once a year. At this point... it's been 5 years, 312 weeks, 2192 days, and 52,623 hours. Over 200 episodes, more than 100 guests, close to 100 countries, and 100k downloads later… We're celebrating my 5th podcast anniversary and another circle around the sun (as in my birthday). I'm incredibly thrilled, even more excited to share some pretty awesome news, and, of course, a drop a gem or two. Check out the full session notes: www.evehudsonphd.com/203. • Spring 2022: Session 202 (History Notes: Grieving the Loss of A Mentor with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    21/01/2022 Duration: 28min

After going on and on about how being first-generation in a BGLO has changed my life, exactly one week since J13, the National President for my sorority transitioned. While I was already planning for today to be a show pulled from the archives, it was crystal clear to me which one it needed to be. It's even more interesting that, at the time of this airing, it's just six days shy of a year from its original release. It feels like a reminder that we always have what we need to continue to press forward.Nothing is comparable to the special kind of pain felt when a close mentor transitions. The pain is often associated with memories or moments that we’ve had with them, but more so the lessons they didn’t have time to teach us. It’s as if our personal journeys have lost direction, and we find ourselves suddenly lost. What we can’t see, in the blurriness of our pain, is that a true mentor never really dies. Their work lives on in us. Check out the full session notes: www.evehudsonphd.com/202 Join the Mov

  • Spring 2022: Session 201 (How Being First-Generation in a BGLO has Changed My Life with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    14/01/2022 Duration: 49min

I’ve been wanting to do a show about being a Black Greek for years. I never really got around to it because, if I’m for real, I hadn’t fully grasped how I wanted to approach it.When I realized that this year’s founders' day actually fell on a Thursday in 20 TWENTY-TWO, the 10NINEth year of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., I just haadddd to finally make it happen. While there are several angles that I considered, I thought I’d start this conversation focusing on how being first-generation and a member of a Black Greek-letter organization (BGLO) has changed my life. Warning: I'm heavy on the Delta Sigma Theta this in one, but... in my defense... it's J13. (And, so you know now, I've been rounding up a Divine Nine First-Gen Squad because this is just the start of a series of conversations to come.) • Spring 2022: Session 200 (Why Some People Will Never Be Successful with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    07/01/2022 Duration: 04min

We're making history today with the shortest session of the show that's ever aired! What's even more interesting is what we're talking about... success. People look to other things and people to tell them how to be successful. People look to other things and people to tell them how to be successful—wake up at 5 am, work out an hour a day, practice self-care, eat whole food, max out your investments. Don’t get me wrong, considering different perspectives and being exposed to new ideas is good. Yet, you have to let go of other people’s success for your own. • Fall 2021: Session 199 (Being Enlightened Through the Ups and Downs with Dr. Eve)

    31/12/2021 Duration: 46min

2021 was, without a doubt, a year full of ups and downs. But looking back at what I accomplished and what you helped me achieve, I can confidently say that despite the lows, this year was just full of blessings. So, thank you. A few weeks ago, I was talking to a friend of mine, and one of the things she mentioned that really stuck with me was milestones. Like, what are some of the wins from this year that would be worth sharing with the audience? Now, talking about wins is one thing, but my worry was, what if people perceive that as bragging? I admit I wasn't comfortable with that, but then I thought to myself, what do I have to lose? No matter what I do, everybody will still have an opinion about it. And bragging will always be bragging for whoever thinks it's bragging. So, I'll just do it. Every year I try to round up and highlight the top sessions for the year based on download numbers. However, in the spirit of innovation, this year will be a little different. Instead of the top shows from this year,

  • Fall 2021: Session 198 (How I Nearly Quadrupled My Revenue with Dr. Eve)

    24/12/2021 Duration: 36min

There’s a lot of advice out there on how to double or even triple your revenue. And to be honest, I feel like I’ve consumed it all. I’ve taken courses, attended conferences, read books, and obsessively analyzed my income reports; however, nothing beats trying things out yourself and learning from your experiences. And it all starts with having a plan. Business revenue will not increase without a plan to identify the desired outcome and the processes necessary to achieve it. My business almost quadrupled its annual revenue in 2021. And it wasn’t an accident, neither was it a fluke. It was a tactfully crafted plan combined with a fierce dedication to execution and setting boundaries. Nonetheless, it first required a shift in thinking and the understanding that my business is worth more than most people assume. 2021 has taught me that potential clients will never take a business seriously until the entrepreneur understands the value they bring to the table. Check out the full session notes: www.evehuds

  • Fall 2021: Session 197 (Why You Shouldn't Be Scared of Entrepreneurship with Eve Hudson, Ph.D.)

    17/12/2021 Duration: 14min

The more I talk to aspiring entrepreneurs, especially as I'm getting ready to re-launch my business development program, I hear folks mention that they're scared. I can understand fear is normal when we're facing anything that's unfamiliar. For me, I wasn't scared when I started. I'm about 99% sure that is because I loved speaking, and I didn't see what I was doing as entrepreneurship. (More about that in the show.) Anywho... I'll tell anyone who'll listen that while being a business owner the most challenging thing I've ever done, it's also one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. I think if you're interested, especially as someone who is first-generation and looking to build wealth, it's something certainly worth experiencing. So, let's talk about why you shouldn't be scared to pursue entrepreneurship. Check out the full session notes: www.evehudsonphd.com/196. Join the Movement: https://jointhemovement.evehudsonphd.com/.
