Kelsey is a first generation college graduate, with a Masters in Clinical Psychology, from Pepperdine University. Kelsey currently practices with a range of therapeutic techniques for Achieve Medical Center in Eastlake, Chula Vista. She works with individuals, couples, children (ages 10+), adolescents, and their families with different types of mental health, emotional, and adjustment issues. Most of her patients are from the local neighborhoods which consist of a large percentage of the Latinx and the military community. She opened up her shop in November of 2020 and her goal was to sell 50 beanies and she reached that in less then a month. It wasn’t until she started journaling for her therapy sessions, that something deeper started to come through, and she realized she had a way with metaphors and unique imagery, which was the birth of her poetry. When she’s not writing, she spends her time trying to follow her dream of becoming an actress in both theatre and film. Because he personally observed his older siblings and his community's talents and interests be denied and repressed due to a lack of resources and opportunities, he became interested in issues related to social justice. As a teacher-scholar-activist, Dr. Gonzalez takes pride in telling stories that challenge stereotypes and empower his community and communities alike. What up everyone!!Welcome to another episode of LEMeKNOWMy guest on today's episode is Steven ContrerasSteven is the director for the LBCA.The Long Beach Collective Association (The LBCA) is a nonprofit trade association comprised of cannabis businesses in Long Beach, including dispensaries, cultivation, labs, manufacturing, and distribution. After the 2012 city-wide cannabis ban, the LBCA lead the fight to bring regulation back to the city of Long Beach. We currently work with the Long Beach Health Department on public health and cannabis education. This Fall Steven will be teaching at LBCC a class on the Cannabis industry. This will be an 8 week course and it will cover everything from cultivation to retail. He also works with artists such as Noa James, Pretty Papes and Rane Raps break through into the Music industry.
