Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-17 Since our time on earth is limited, let’s make the most of the time we have left.

Scripture: Luke 1:26-38 Today’s advent theme is "Joy." The shepherds announced good news of great joy. Sometimes we need to be reminded to live in the moment and allow ourselves to experience the joy found in the big things and the small ones as we prepare to celebrate the Source of all joy, the birth of Jesus. Joseph and Mary, in the most significant moment of their lives to date, learned the lesson their son would later preach on the mountain: Don’t worry about anything, for God in heaven provides all our needs…even a manger, when there’s no room in the inn.

Scripture: John 3:16-17 Today’s advent theme is "Love." God is love, and He sent Jesus to show how much He loves us. We are to love others and bring light to a dark world as we prepare for the birth of Jesus. God didn’t send Jesus into the world as a victorious general or a polished politician; He sent a helpless baby. God didn’t give His Son so that we could have military might, political power, or incredible fame; He gave us love.

1 Peter 2:11-25 This Sunday, December 1 is the first Sunday of Advent! The theme of our worship service will be "Hope." Hope is at the beginning of all things, and during Advent, our hope is in the coming Savior. We need to be reminded that in the midst of struggles, there is hope in Jesus. Lance Davids unpacks the message from 1 Peter to help us understand who we are in Christ Jesus!

Zephaniah 3:14-20 Zephaniah is a book that is seldom used in worship. Eight of the nine oracles in this little book announce God’s just judgment on his people because of their disobedience. But in the last oracle (Zephaniah 3:14-20) we discover that the God of justice and judgment is also the God of forgiveness and hope. The focus of this message will be on the five practical promises found in verse 17 – a verse that has been called the John 3:16 of the Old Testament.

Scripture: Joshua 6:1-20 In Joshua 6, the Israelite people come to Jericho. The city appears to be an insurmountable obstacle, even though God has clearly told them that He is giving this land to them. In order to overcome the obstacle, they have to trust God and follow His guidance, even though God’s plan seems a little crazy. They obey God, even though it seems to be not working. In the end, God’s purposes are accomplished.

If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” Jesus was amazing. He was the only perfect human (and fully God as well) who ever lived. Everything was done perfectly all the time. Today we watch Jesus turn a building illustration into a teaching on spiritual foundations. His teaching was amazing. While salvation through the cross was the crux of His work, His rabbinical teaching method was intended to convey the deep truths of the kingdom in ways that packed a punch.

The leper meekly said, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus “is willing,” and remains so now in our lives too. Today we watch Him restore his gung-ho friend who failed Jesus miserably. The Power of Words to Build Up Pastor Joel Zuidema Scripture: Ephesians 4:29-5:2 What a gift to be able to communicate by speech! Words are a gift. So important are words that when Jesus is revealed from heaven, we are told “the WORD became flesh and dwelt amongst us.” The ear didn’t become flesh. Smell didn’t become flesh. Hearing didn’t become flesh. No, it was the WORD. God represents himself to us in Christ by the WORD becoming flesh. So, speech is sacred. The Word is precious, holy, and represents God. Moving from the big WORD to the little word, we see that word continues to hold great power. It has the power to build up and to tear down. Today we consider the command to use words to build each other up according to each other’s needs.
