  • Sitar improv: Golden Lotus

    15/10/2010

This one I recorded several years ago. I have a couple more that I did more recently; they're quite a bit longer, but if anyone goes for this type of thing, I'd upload them. I hope you'll go to the topic discussion if you have a comment: http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/189094 Thanks, PauL http://www.banjocrazy.com/

  • Wreck Of Number Nine

    15/10/2010

I really like this tune/song. I first heard it sung by Jim Reeves in his silky style and loved playing it since. This is in G and maybe a little up tempo for a tragic tale but I like it that way for some reason..!

  • Rabbit In A Log

    15/10/2010

I thought that I'd have a go at the catchy tune Rabbit In A Log. Played in A. To hear a proper version go to Frailin's great site and hear how Singleton Street play it..!

  • "Renewal"

    10/09/2010

Original 3-finger picking melody on Gold Tone BC-350+ in double C, capoed at 2nd fret. copyright 2010 all rights reserved

  • Camel Stomp

    01/09/2010

Original melody in Sawmill tuning, capo 2nd fret.

  • Beverly Hillbillies

    07/08/2010

My attempt at the 60's classic tv series theme music played in Bb.

  • When You And I Were Young Maggie

    02/08/2010

Just me and my wife picking.

  • Midnight Special

    29/07/2010

My arrangement of this tune. D tuning capoed to E. I do like the bluesy stuff.

  • Swanee River

    14/06/2010

Not unlike my Swanee in G but a tad different.. I really like rattling this one off for some reason, usually mixed in with April Showers...!

  • J'etais Au Bal

    07/05/2010

    Cajun fiddle tune

  • Couchie's Point

    01/05/2010

It's about time I posted some of my playing so here you go: one of my original tunes, Couchie's Point. I wrote it a goodly number of years ago and had even long forgotten it but a friend happened to have hit the record button at the time and, better yet, still had the tape.

  • Tyson's Dream

    13/03/2010

This is a Tony Furtado tune that we do a lot different than he does. Still, he graciously agreed to let us upload it here. We'll be including it on our next cd., in the works. Johan Worst bass, darryl banjo and guitar. Mix, Jeff Gibbons.

  • John Hartford - Foggy Mountain Landscape

    11/03/2010

This is the only studio recording of this song that I know of. "Foggy Mountain Landscape" appeared on my first personal CD "Good "Fa-Air" Side", in 1998. The song is 100% live with 0 edits of any kind. Band members are: John Hartford - banjo, Mike Compton - mandolin, Gene Libbea - acoustic bass, and Chris Sharp - guitar. Hope you enjoy it!

  • Somewhere Over The Rainbow

    28/01/2010

Judy Garland on speed in G.

  • Corey's Lullaby

    23/04/2009

This was written by and graciously posted by permission from Owen Duffy (Banjowen) thnx. I love this tune and it's a joy to play. In fact it's hard to stop. This is played on my Gold Tone HOAB with a calfskin head and nylon, monofiliment strings. That's right, monofiliment, it's not just for fishing anymore. Thnx Capt Mike. That's gGDBG capoed up two frets.

  • 2 Worlds (Violin and Banjo)

    06/12/2008

I came across Tom Adams "Lowlands of Holland" recently, and so I had the idea of composing a piece featuring the c-minor tuning. The piece is called 2 Worlds because you find stylistic elements of bluegrass and classical music. Basically my picking here is a kind of melodic style picking but there are also some Fleck like picking patterns in the backup for the violin. As usual both parts are played by myself. Tab and lead sheet of the violin is ready for email. Picked on the HUBER BANJO.

  • Classical Breakdown (Violin and Banjo)

    07/11/2008

My composition Classical Breakdown features mainly scruggs style roll patterns and has a lot of harmony changes. The violin has some rhythmic patterns too, but mainly it plays long melodic lines over the banjo rolls. Picked on the HUBER BANJO.

  • Cantrell's Retreat

    08/02/2008

a pretty tune written by my husband Mark Burhans and performed by the Hotpoint Stringband on the out-of-print CD Steppin' on Cords.

  • Cluck Old Hen- Hip hop style

    11/01/2008

A different spin on an often done traditional filddle tune. This is off our upcoming debut CD titled 'Daydream'. Mixed by Scott Vestal, mastered by Randy LeRoy. Turbo/Adam Beshears on banjos, DJ Deacon on turntables/beat, Curtis Parks on synth, Aaron Soots on rhythm guitar/voice on intro, and William Gee on bass.

  • Heaven, according to Darryl

    16/10/2007

Scratchy robes, sprouting wings, organs, choirs and golden city streets not your thing either? Come out for a visit. ;-) Stu Mac Whyte Laydie with nylon strings and a touch of phaser ( a la Pete Warneck ) just for fun.
