The foundation of the gospel was laid in Romans 1-3. Now we'll dig into chapters 4 and 5 and begin to see what it looks like to live a life of transforming faith. 

Perhaps the biggest enemies of the gospel are morality and religion. Often times, those who are the hardest to reach with the gospel are those who are confident in their own morality or their own religious beliefs. Today, we'll explore fake righteousness or self-righteousness. 

Let's kick off the new year talking about the wrath of God. Sound like fun? At first it may not, but remember everything about God is good. Everything about God is perfect. You'll see. Even a message about His wrath is one we'll want and need to hear. We'll start our series in Romans today.

We'll move from adoring our newborn King to watching Jesus grow in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and men. He matured mentally, physically, spiritually and socially. In so doing, Jesus set a great course for us to follow in 2018. 

We will study Philippians 3. Verses 12-14 will equip us for victorious living. 

Christ is infinite, so there is always more to know. Will we see Him as "The Pearl of Great Price," as He is described in Matthew 13? Will we see the things that draw us from Him as trash compared to the joy of knowing Him?

If you've grown up around church, you are probably familiar with Jesus' parable called "The Prodigal Son." But there is so much more to this story than just one son. We will look at the setting, ALL the characters, and the main lessons of the story. It will be a hopeful message focused on our loving and forgiving Heavenly Father and the good news of the Gospel!

Marvel in the humility of our Savior. Think about the way He chose to enter this world. Consider His conduct as He washed the feet of His disciples. Remember the shame He bore for us. Ask yourself this question: "What would Jesus think?", for we are to have the mind of Christ.

I'm praying God will use the last four verses of Philippians 1 and their powerful truths to sharpen our focus and mold us into a church that understands and proclaims the incredible worth of the gospel.

Do things sometimes not go according to plan? Maybe I should have asked if things ever go according to plan. Today, we'll talk about making the choice to rejoice regardless of our circumstances.

Paul really seemed to enjoy the people of Philippi. Let us share the joy this church brought to the Apostle as we grow into a life worth living (Philippians 1:3-12).

Peter wrote to believers who possessed a joy that was beyond description (I Peter 1:9). What is the source of that joy? Can we find that same source? It won't be found in religion, ritual, or regulation. Such joy is only found in a relationship with the Risen Lord.

The resurrection of Christ has been called the cornerstone of the Christian faith. As we explore the events that let to and resulted in the first Easter, we'll look at a day of pain, a day of doubt, and a day of joy. Today we'll see how Jesus modeled for us how to handle pain. No matter our pain, it does not exceed His experience and understanding (Hebrews 4:15).

God's Word is full of principles that will help us make sound financial decisions. It also contains promises to those who follow those principles. As we anticipate the blessing of God, it is wise to prepare by observing God's laws He gave to Israel before they moved into the promised land. We'll learn how to maintain spiritual health in a materialistic society. 

"Justification" is amazing (Romans 8:1-8). Add on "sanctification", and things are even better (Romans 8:9-11). Through Jesus we are adopted in God's family and made His heirs.

On December 7, 1941, upon hearing of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Winston Churchill was delighted. Not because we had been attacked and lives were lost, but because the United States was now entering the war. He would later say he knew that Britain was saved and that victory was just a matter of the proper application of an overwhelming force. In spiritual warfare, the same is true, and that overwhelming force is the power of God's Spirit. We will be studying Romans 7 and 8.  

We'll see the incredible impact of the gospel in everyday life, as we dig into Romans 12:1-2.
