Sunny Clifford and her twin sister, Serena, joined Cecilia in the campaign for women's empowerment and reproductive sovereignty. Sunny Clifford discusses her experiences during the political upheaval, the long history of white men exerting control over Indigenous women's bodies, the lingering impact of colonization and intergenerational trauma, and her dreams for her first child.

Shannon graduated with honors from Pacific University with her Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy in 1992; her thesis was titled, “Pet Therapy and its Effects on Elderly Nursing Home Residents”. Shannon worked in human acute care and in-patient rehabilitation for 15 years in Oregon. She became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner through the University of Tennessee in 2006, and is licensed by the NV State Veterinary Board as an Animal Physical Therapist. She joined LVVSC in 2006. I n her free time, she enjoys doing yard work, hiking, and spending time with her husband at their country home, where they enjoy their adopted disabled dogs and cerebellar hypoplastic cats.

Girls education matter! This Friday, Phionah Musumba discusses the barriers to girls' education in rural Kenya and what her organization, the Malkia Empowerment Network through The Center for Disadvantaged Girls (CDG) is doing to empower girls. "The Centre of Disadvantaged Girls has a vision to create a haven where girls, women and youth in the society, especially the community around us can identify with their very own, and together prepare themselves to face the world responsibly not only financially, but also educationally, health wise and socially." Phionah says: "I have a burning passion for the needy and less privileged in society, not because I have much, since I got nothing, but because I have been through a lot of suffering all my life, as a young girl and even as a mother." She envisions a future where "women don't have to walk tens of kilometres to fetch a few litres of water, a future where women will be given equal rights to education and leadership posts as men, where our kids don't die for l

Co-hosts Leigh Ann Kranz and Delphine Criscenzo engage grassroots organizer, Beatrice Achieng Nas about the importance of girl's education in Uganda and her efforts to empower girls in rural Uganda. Beatrice Achieng Nas is the founder of Pearl Community Empowerment Foundation, PCE. As a young girl, Beatrice struggled going to school despite her mother's efforts to raise funds. An American family from Kentucky sponsored and educated her from High School to the University. This opportunity became a turning point. She is now dedicated to supporting her community. Beatrice believes "she is an education and empowerment global voice for the grassroots communities in Africa, especially the women, girls and children. Her vision is to work with men and women locally and internationally in empowering women and girls. Beatrice believes that everybody has the potential to live a better life."

Jack & Ellen Brandt with a heart of Tibetan Spaniels adopted 5-year-old Tashi, and Dharma who had been rescued from a puppy mill.  Dharma not considered to be as prolific a producer as Tashi had been less traumatized by her time at the mill and quickly adapted to life outside. Tashi however had birthed many litters. As a result, she had no muscle tone at all (even in her rear end), she could barely walk, had chronic ear infections and her feet were splayed.  After only six weeks with Dr.O'Sullivan's holistic regimend, Jake & Ellen have watched Tashi blossom into the dog she was always meant to be. 

A male feminist who has very recently become a women's rights advocate - that was a huge transformation I have undergone in my life.I co-founded the Psycho-social Development and Support Organization based in Afghanistan. Other than the psychological support and activities, we have dedicated a huge portion of our focus on activism. I believe men play a very crucial role in elimination of violence against women. And their engagement can be achieved immensely through the public awareness - spreading the words, speaking out, and letting them know what women experience.
