Bridging The Gap

We’ve spent a considerable amount of time studying the gospel of Mark on the program, and today we reach chapter fourteen, verses forty three through seventy two. In this familiar scene, Jesus is arrested in the Garden of Gethsemene.

Mark is the shortest of the four gospel accounts of Jesus Christ’s earthly life, but it contains some very moving accounts of His ministry. One of those accounts is in chapter fourteen, verses thirty two through forty two, where we see the Lord in the Garden of Gethsemene.

There are so many memorable scenes described in God’s word, and we’ll look at one of them today. It’s a familiar scene to most Christians - Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemene. Jesus went to the cross willingly as a sacrifice for our sins, but His souls was deeply troubled here in the garden - just hours before His painful death.

We’re going to continue along in Mark’s gospel, as we study chapter fourteen, verses twelve through thirty one. Here we see the scene of the last Passover, and the  Lord’s last meal with His disciples.  The last few hours of the earthly life of Jesus are a wonderful picture of a man who knew His destiny, and accepted it willingly - because of His incredible love for us!

We’re going to continue our verse by verse study in Mark’s gospel today as we near the time when the Lord will be arrested and crucified. These verses describe some of the most important moments in human history - indeed they tell what God was willing to go through so you and I could have a chance to live in eternity with Him! 

Today we’ll once again be studying Mark’s gospel, chapter fourteen. As the saying goes, we’re getting down to the nitty gritty, as the plot to arrest and kill Jesus is being hatched. The really wonderful truth to remember as we study these verses, is that Jesus was and is God - and He could have put an end to these events at any time. But He chose to go to the cross willingly, to save us from our sins.

Today, we begin a study of Mark chapter fourteen. It’s here that the plot is put into motion that eventually leads to Jesus Christ’s death on the cross... an act that grants independence from hell to anyone who would repent of their sins and receive salvation from the Lord.

Today on Bridging the Gap, pastor Lloyd Pulley will share some of the signs that the return of Jesus Christ is imminent. The Bible points us toward the signs of the Lord’s return, and the signs are occurring as we speak! Our series in Mark has reached the end of chapter thirteen.

Almost every Christian acknowledges that we are living in the last days. The Lord is going to return soon for His church. In Mark thirteen, Jesus spoke of some of the signs to look for as we await His glorious return. As we move along in today’s study, I think you’ll be surprised at just how many of the things Jesus spoke about are taking place!

Have you noticed how many politicians seem to have trouble with the truth these days? I mention this because it’s important that we as Christians always have the facts of God’s word available for sharing. How well do you know your Bible? 

Today Lloyd continues his series in the gospel of Mark called “Jesus The Humble Servant”. I think all Christians can agree that in order to be a good witness for God, we need to have our relationship with Him in good shape. Part of that right relationship is understanding that the Lord is coming back soon - and we must “be prepared”! 

Jesus Christ is the smartest person who has ever walked this earth. He is God, after all! Today on Bridging the Gap, we’ll wrap up pastor Lloyd’s message in Mark twelve, where some know-it-all Pharisees are quizzing the Lord on various topics. Want to hazard a guess as to who ended up looking foolish?

 Would you ever have the nerve to make God take a test? On today’s broadcast, we’re going to see Jesus tested by some pharisees. These guys apparently thought they could catch Jesus with a trick question about taxes. Ready to hear what happened? Today we return to our series in Mark, titled “Jesus, The Humble Servant”. We will be in Mark chapter twelve, beginning in verse thirteen.

Authority is present in just about every part of life. Who is the ultimate authority in your life? I hope your answer is Jesus Christ. Our scripture text today is Mark chapter twelve as we see Jesus assert His authority. 

Jesus had authority over the Chief Priests, Scribes and Elders on the Church, yet they confronted Him and questioned His authority. I think you’d agree, this is not the wisest move these guys could make. But let me ask you this: do you ever question God’s authority over your life?

What should the Christian be looking forward to? That’s what pastor Lloyd Pulley will address today on Bridging the Gap. We’re going through Mark’s gospel right now, and we’ve reached chapter eleven. Jesus is about to fulfill Old Testament prophecy by riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. He was the Messiah the Jews had been promised, and we are promised something as well - that one day Jesus will return to this earth for us!

 One of the greatest things about the Lord’s earthly ministry is the way He recognized and rewarded true faith. We’ll see a good example of this today, as we see the Lord’s encounter with a man called blind Bartimaeus. This encounter not only shows the healing power of Jesus, but also leads us to have faith in a soon returning King!

Today on Bridging the Gap we’ll talk about greatness from a Biblical perspective - what Jesus Himself said about being great in the kingdom of God. Now, I’d love to be able to hit like Shohei, or hit the ball a mile like Judge, but wouldn’t you rather be considered great by God Himself? Our scripture text is Mark chapter ten.
