Bridging The Gap

On today’s program we will continue an exciting journey through the book of Acts, as we open chapter four. Here we find some new believers in Christ, who had prospered financially, selling some of their possessions, and bringing the money to the disciples to distribute to those in need.

What we’ll see today is more evidence of the Holy Spirit’s presence, and more evidence of man’s unwillingness to acknowledge His presence. Peter called the people to account for this back then, and his words will remind us today, that acknowledgment begets faith, and faith begets worship and that’s why we’re here... to glorify and worship the Lord Jesus Christ. 

Have you ever experienced something and later realized you’d been set up? That’s exactly what’s about to happen to Peter and John. They’re on their way to the temple to pray and they come across a lame man begging for money. What happens at the Beautiful Gate served to give the people a vivid example of the presence and the power of The Holy Spirit.

Today we begin a message dealing with the last six verses of the second chapter of Acts. Here’s the scenario: Peter has just given a dynamite sermon about the power and the glory of Jesus Christ, and now those who heard the sermon are asking, “What do you want us to do now?” It’s a common question, and there’s a very clear answer found in these verses in Acts chapter two.

Today we’ll look at chapter two, verses twenty two through forty one. Here, Luke records the amazing and Spirit-inspired words of the Apostle Peter’s first sermon.  Peter is exhorting his audience to repent and be saved. And those who have heard his words are being swept up in the Holy Spirit.

When the Holy Spirit came upon the hundred and twenty disciples, there were many who were amazed. But there were some who thought these spirit-filled people had had a little too much wine to drink! After all, they were being heard by the crowd in several different languages at the same time! The Apostle Peter came to the rescue with a sermon that set the record straight.

Today we continue our study through the book of Acts, with a stop in Acts chapter two. The day of Pentecost has arrived, and with it, the Holy Spirit. Without question this is one of the most significant events in the Bible, as the third member of the Holy Trinity descended upon the early Christian Church. As we will see in today’s message, the work of the Holy Spirit began immediately, and the results were quite startling to those who witnessed them.

Today we’ll bring you part one of pastor Lloyd’s final message in his series through Mark.  Jesus indeed rose from the grave, and the proof was there for anyone to see - anyone that is who sought the truth.  As Lloyd will mention, the proof that Jesus Christ rose from the grave is overwhelming, and anyone who disagrees simply doesn’t know what they’re talking about!

Self preservation is a strong instinct for humans and all other creatures. Why then did Jesus Christ allow himself to be crucified in a horribly painful way, when He could easily have stopped it? Because He loves us so much!

We’re all familiar with the events surrounding the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Today we’ll consider the hearing before Pilate from a slightly different perspective. Who actually was on trial here?

We’ll start in Mark fifteen today, as Jesus is appearing before Pilate after His arrest. The decision facing Pilate is quite similar to the decision every person must make. We know, as Pilate did, that Jesus Christ is who He says He is. Yet, will we choose the easy way out and reject Him? 

Today pastor Lloyd resumes his verse by verse series through the gospel of Mark. We’ve reached a crucial section here in chapter fourteen, verses forty three through seventy two. Jesus has been arrested and now stands before the high priest. What irony we see here - Jesus, the only guiltless person in the room, stands accused of blasphemy.
