Bridging The Gap

As we study chapter seven of Exodus we observe an individual who refused to submit to God, in spite of the great consequences.  In Christian circles, we refer to this as a hard heart, and certainly Pharaoh had one. 

Today on Bridging the Gap, pastor Lloyd brings us a study in Exodus chapters six and seven, as we look at another battle going on - the battle for deliverance by Moses and the people of Israel. It’s here that we see the power of God displayed in the form of Plagues. And oh boy, are these plagues bad!

Moses had his hands full as he sought to deliver his people out of Egypt, and at the same time, we have our hands full as we seek deliverance from our sin. Both battles need God’s hand to be successful. We really can’t do it alone.  That’s a lesson everyone eventually learns, although some take a lot longer to figure it out than others! 

As Christians - we are called to face these battles by relying on the Lord and His Strength. One of the greatest examples of this was Moses facing Pharaoh. Today on Bridging the Gap - Pastor Lloyd Pulley will offer us some pointers which will really be beneficial for times of spiritual warfare. The basis of our study is found in Exodus chapters five and six.

As we continue our new series in Exodus, titled “Deliverance”, we will again look at the life and times of one of the great men in the Bible - Moses. Talk about some heavy responsibilities! An entire nation’s future put into the hands of one man! But Moses was a humble and Godly man who knew that it was God - working through him - who was really doing the delivering.

Today we’ll again open our Bibles to the book of Exodus, as we enjoy a brand new series from Lloyd called “Deliverance”. As we look at chapter four, we’ll see just what God can do when He flexes His mighty muscle. It can be a good thing or a bad thing - depending of course on whether you’re on God’s side or not! 

Today Lloyd brings us another message in his brand new series in the book of Exodus, titled “Deliverance”. Here in the early chapters of this wonderful book, we get to know one of the great men in the Bible - a man named Moses. As great a leader as he was, he had a problem common to many Christians today. God called him, and he said “Why me, God?”  Ever been there?

Today on the program, Lloyd will look at the life of Moses - a man with a tremendous task on his hands. Of course, before God could work in Moses’ life, Moses needed an attitude adjustment!  Maybe that’s what you’re in need of today?

As we head over to the Book of Exodus, Pharaoh is condemning the Jewish people to slavery and bondage in Egypt. He did so out of fear that the Jews  would grow to be too strong and rebel against Egypt. His plan, which included an order to kill all of the Jewish newborn boys, eventually backfired. Pastor Lloyd Pulley sees this as an example of how God’s will cannot be thwarted.

We’re going to head into Exodus today in a series Lloyd has titled “Deliverance”. Of course this is the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt, but it’s also a story of personal deliverance. Before Moses could lead his people,  God first needed to prepare Moses for this incredible task.

There are a lot of things to be worried about right now. But Lloyd will remind us again today that having an attitude of worry is basically telling God that you don’t trust Him. Harsh? Well, let’s think about it. If you truly trust God to be the God of your life, then you turn your troubles over to Him, and there’s nothing to worry about. Let’s join pastor Lloyd and learn how to trust God more, and worry less!

There are many things to be worried about right now. The economy. Racial tension. The increase in violent crime. Pastor Lloyd will begin today’s message with a look at a section of the sermon on the mount, in Matthew six, but he will also talk about a very familiar scene in which Jesus came to visit a pair of sisters named Mary and Martha.

Today, Pastor Lloyd will share some ways that we can fight the battle against the forces of evil and come out victorious. Every victorious team has a game plan, and so it is with our battle against satan - we need a game plan and we need to stick to it! 

Who do you think you are? Now, we have all probably been asked that question with a little anger behind it, but actually, I’m asking you that important question as it pertains to your standing in the kingdom of God. He sent His son to die for us. That should tell us how much God values each of us. Our scripture for today is the second chapter of First John.

As we look around us we see a world in decay. From a spiritual and moral perspective we are going down the drain. And even for Christians, it is quite easy to get caught in the current. So, today pastor Lloyd will share some things we need to be cautious about, as we set some firm spiritual objectives to not only grow, but to prosper in these turbulent times.

Truth is certainly a relative thing these days. The abortion debate is clear evidence of that. No one can truthfully deny that an abortion takes a human life. But the way certain groups attempt to justify it is abhorrent. That’s just one example of seeking truth in the wrong place. The bible is the only one hundred percent reliable source for truth! Let’s join pastor Lloyd for today’s message.

Today on Bridging the Gap, pastor Lloyd Pulley brings us a message titled “Receiving and Guarding the Truth”. We are going to visit several books in the bible to discover that the only place to find absolute truth is - the bible!

We’re going to try to bridge a little of the gap between ourselves and God by improving our prayer life. It makes sense that the closer we get to God, the better our relationship will be, and to do that we’ve got to be good communicators. We’ll look at a very good example of effective prayer today as we turn to Second Chronicles chapter twenty, verses one through thirty.

There have been many examples over the years of men and women who went to God in prayer before facing a major test. Abraham Lincoln prayed often before an important speech. Many pro athletes pray before a game. Today on Bridging the Gap, we’ll go to Second Chronicles chapter twenty as we witness a prayer from a man named Jehoshafat. He was facing a very serious conflict with the enemies of Judah... so he prayed.
