Bridging The Gap

Genesis has been rightly called the book of beginnings, as it reveals the beginning of everything - except for God of course. The bible makes no attempt to prove His existence, for that truth is self evident. As the Psalmist said, the heavens declare the glory of God and the skies show His handy work. What a glorious work God has done - how great is our God!  And for you - He made the sky, the oceans, the trees, the animals and in such abundance and variety.

Genesis chapter one tells of our beginnings, and it’s all about God.  God is the primary cause because He planned it, He is the instrumental cause because He produced it, and He is the final cause because He did it for His own glory.  That comes shining through as we study Genesis one starting with verse three.

Today on Bridging the Gap we continue the story of Creation, and have arrived at day five.  Since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities; His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made. On today’s program we reach day five in God’s creation project. If you love animals, and love studying the amazing number of creatures that crawl, walk, run and fly around our planet, then today’s message is for you.

The truth of God’s word has been challenged from the very beginning. Today is no different.  But it’s tragic to see even those within the Church question the veracity of the word of God.  And when it comes to the book of Genesis - the attacks are the fiercest.  No doubt it’s because - if the foundation can be undermined then the rest of the structure will crumble.  Well today on Bridging the Gap, we go on the offensive through a study of Genesis one! 

Maybe like a lot of people you’re wondering how in the world we got here?  Was there some sort of an explosion caused by random chance that sprung creation into existence or is there a creator behind it all?  Well you’re not likely to get the right answer by opening the science books being read in the public schools, but you will by turning to Genesis chapter one! It has the answer we’re looking for, and we’d invite you to join us there as we return to pastor Lloyd. 

It’s good to remind ourselves of the kind of God we pray to.  He is the creator. He spoke - then out of nothing He made the heaven and the earth.  He made everything and He’s holding it all together. That’s comforting! We’ll explore this great truth in more detail today as pastors Lloyd continues his new series titled “The Foundations”.

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”. Every Christian knows that verse, but perhaps you don’t really understand the ramifications of what follows. That’s what this new series is all about. Pastor Lloyd will lay out the foundations of our faith, and the foundations of why God created the heavens, the earth, and the people who occupy it.

On today’s program, we embark on an exciting new series called “The Foundations”. We are going to be studying the first eleven chapters of Genesis. You might have heard pastor Lloyd mention in the past that if you can accept and believe Genesis one, verse one, the rest of the bible is a piece of cake. Over the next several weeks, pastor Lloyd will go in depth in these important chapters to show us God’s plan from the beginning of man, and God’s amazing creativity.

Getting an answer to your prayer is not difficult. Accepting the answer…. well, sometimes that’s not so easy. Prayer is a powerful weapon in our daily battle with satan. Today we conclude Lloyd’s series on spiritual warfare, based in Ephesians chapter six. Today’s message is titled “Prayer to Make a Difference”.

Today on Bridging the Gap, we continue our study of Ephesians six, with the final piece of our spiritual armor - prayer.  Our teacher is pastor Lloyd Pulley, and he will remind us today that prayer is a wonderful gift from God - and responsibility for every believer.

Have you ever thought of the bible as a piece of spiritual armor? It most certainly is, and that’s why Paul mentioned it in Ephesians six, verse seventeen. When we think of the word “armor”, we think of things like metal suits and swords and such. But have you ever thought of your bible as a piece of your spiritual armor? It is!When we are attacked by satan, if we rely on the perfect and powerful word of God, what chance does satan have? Let’s join pastor Lloyd, as we consider another part of our spiritual armor - the word of God.

Helmets are a very good piece of protection, and it’s true whether you’re talking about motorcyclists or Christians. Our subject today is a key piece of our spiritual armor - our helmet of salvation. Join us in Ephesians six, verse seventeen. 

I’m sure you seen those gladiator movies on TV, featuring numerous sword fights. If you know what I’m talking about, you know the importance of the shield - it’s the only thing keeping those guys from certain death. So it is with our faith in Jesus Christ. Join us today in Ephesians chapter six, verse sixteen.

There are different shoes for virtually every athletic endeavor. The only one that hasn’t seemed to have changed are those ugly rental shoes at the Bowling Alley! Footwear is important in our spiritual battle as well. So the question must be asked - do you have the right shoes?

Our current series is designed to prepare us for spiritual battle by explaining the armor God has provided for us. Today we’ll look at the Breastplate of Righteousness. Many people don’t even understand what righteousness is - and we need to, because that breastplate is a vital piece of equipment! 

Today pastor Lloyd Pulley will bring us another look at our spiritual armor, as we again seek to be prepared for any attack from satan. Join us in Ephesians six, verses eleven through fourteen as we look at spiritual armor piece number one - being girded in the truth. 

Today we’ll stay in Ephesians six as we continue our series on Spiritual Warfare. Now we all know that one of the key components in winning any battle is to be properly equipped. In our spiritual war with satan, it’s especially important. In Ephesians six, beginning in verse twelve, Paul lays out for us the key pieces of our Godly armor.

There are some Christians who are so absorbed with following God’s rules that they think that obeying rules is all being a Christian is about - and that’s called legalism. It’s one of satan’s favorite schemes. Pastor Lloyd will share some thoughts on legalism today, as we continue our series on spiritual warfare.
