Bridging The Gap

Lloyd Pulley is our Bible teacher, and he continues to instruct us from the first sermon delivered by our Lord, which we read about in Matthew chapters five through seven. Since anger tends to creep into many of our lives, I’m sure you’ll find today’s message beneficial. 

 I think it would be safe to say none of us has ever committed murder - but do we have the potential do do so? We’ll find out what the root of murder is today, and you just may be surprised to discover the symptoms in your life! The Lord addressed this issue in Matthew five, and He dealt not just with an outward action, but also an inward attitude.

Have you ever wondered why we call the day we remember the crucifixion of Christ, “Good” Friday? What could possibly be good about a death? A death undeserved? The intentional killing of an innocent man? That’s what pastor Lloyd will talk about today as we bring you the conclusion of a message he began yesterday, titled Following Jesus to the Cross”. We will be in there gospel of Luke.

This coming weekend we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus. Celebrate a death? That sounds kind of morbid, don’t you think? But Christians celebrate the death of Christ because that death was the greatest act of love ever committed. Jesus willingly went to the cross of Calvary because His death and resurrection would bridge the gap between a perfect God and sinful mankind. Join us in Luke chapter twenty-three as we explore the events leading up to the crucifixion of Christ.

God is very specific in His word about everything related to our lives here on earth, and our eternal life as well. Today’s message is a part of Lloyd’s ongoing study of the Sermon on the Mount. We’ll be in Matthew chapter five, verses twenty one through forty eight today.

Today on Bridging the Gap - Pastor Lloyd Pulley returns to his study of the Sermon on the Mount. We’ll go to Matthew chapter five verses seventeen through twenty, to examine what Jesus said about the Law. 

Light is an important part of life, even if we don’t completely understand it. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus Himself said that Christians are “the light of the world”. What exactly does that mean? We’ll join pastor Lloyd Pulley for some answers as we look at Matthew five, verses fourteen through sixteen.

Scientists will all agree that light travels at 186 thousand miles per second, but they don’t agree on much more! Light is an important thing for Christians as well, because Jesus told us we are the “light of the world”. What does it mean to be the light of the world? That’s what we’ll explore today on the program as Lloyd brings us another message from his series on the Sermon on the Mount.

How do you define success? Many in the world would list money, fame or power.  But today we’ll notice what the marks of a successful person really are, by utilizing our Lord’s standards. In Matthew chapter five, verse thirteen, Jesus used a simple analogy to teach us how to make an impact, and a difference in the world. By paying close attention, you’ll discover valuable instruction on how to be influential and beneficial.

The Bible states that Man tends to look at the outward appearance of an individual, but God goes much deeper than that. He looks at the heart, and desires His children to be pure in heart. Lloyd Pulley will explain here today on Bridging the Gap as we continue to look at the beatitudes, at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount.  Today, Lloyd returns to what Jesus had to say about being pure in heart. A lot of people get mercy confused with justice and that’s sad, because they are two very different things!
