    Todd DeSorbo was hired as the head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach in August 2017. In his first season with the Cavaliers, the women’s team reclaimed the ACC title, while the men’s program finished third at the conference championships. The program set a combined 13 school records with the men setting seven and the women six during the season. At the NCAA Championships, the Cavalier women placed ninth earning All-American honors in 14 events as the men finished 29th after earning All-America honors in seven events. Prior to UVA, DeSorbo served as the associate head coach at NC State for six seasons. He worked primarily with the Wolfpack sprinters and was a developmental specialist.     Maritza is a 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist in swimming. She is the 1st woman of color to make the US Olympic Swim team and medal. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, then moved with her family to Florida when she was 9 years old. She attended the University of Georgia at age 17. She graduated in 2005 as a 27-time All American with 11 NCAA titles. She became the first woman of color to break an individual American record and a World Record. After college she turned pro and traveled the country representing Team USA until her retirement. She's clocked 20 years in the USA Swimming World. Now, she works full time in corporate America, raising two kids with her husband. She travels the country spreading the importance of learning to swim especially in the Black communities.     I swam in high school for Dan Flack, Tom Smith, and Laura Pitman at the Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN. We were the 2009 Public and Independent High School National Champions, and that year, our 200 medley relay set the National Public and Independent High School record (I was the fly leg). I was a team captain for Baylor from 2009-2010. In college, I walked on to the University of Alabama's swim team, but earned a scholarship after my freshman year. I competed at the SEC Championships all four years, and I ranked 6th in UA's all-time top 10 in the 200 IM in 2011 and 4th in the 200 free in 2012. I won UA's Debra Hobart Perseverance, Determination and Spirit Award two years in a row (2011 and 2012), the Leadership Award in 2014, and I was a team captain my junior and senior years (2013 and 2014). Once I "retired" from swimming after college, I had no intentions to go back to the sport -- I had undergraduate degrees in Journalism, French, and Nutrition, and I was working on my Masters degree in Journalism.     Leah was a member of the Hunter swim club where she became a member of the Australian national team and finaled at the 2012 Olympic trials as well as the 2011/2013 World Champ Trials. She decided to pursue her swimming career in the US to swim for the University of Alabama where her main events were 100 and 200 fly. Afterwards, she moved to Panama City Beach, Florida and coached kids from ages 5-15 with the Panama City Tsunamis. Now, she is back in her Australian hometown of Newcastle coaching both on deck and on land. Her love for swimming translates into her coaching. She believes in the everyday life skills that swimming gives us and is working to pass them onto the next generation of swimmers.     Coach Joe Plane has been coaching swimming since 1997. He has coached all levels of swimming; from learn-to-swim up to Olympic Trial qualifiers. Coach Joe has worked with and around some of the greatest coaches in the United States. He swam for Kelly Kremer at John Brown University, who is now the Head Coach of the University of Minnesota Men’s and Women’s swimming and diving teams. Coach Joe also worked with Jim Richardson from the University of Michigan Women’s swimming team from 2003 to 2006. While at Michigan, he had the opportunity to observe Head Men’s Coach Jon Urbanchek and Head Men’s Coach Bob Bowman, as well as the greatest Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps.     Northern Colorado named Lisa Ebeling the new head coach of the women’s swimming and diving program in August of 2016. Ebeling came to UNC after four seasons as the assistant at the University of Alabama where she helped coach both programs and was the recruiting coordinator for the women’s team. The Colorado Springs, Colorado native came to Tuscaloosa after stints as an assistant coach at the University of Utah and Rutgers University. She was part of the coaching staff in the Utes inaugural season as part of the Pac-12 Conference in 2011-12, during which Utah broke 15 school records. A three-time All-American at Arizona, Ebeling helped the Wildcats win the 2006 Pac-10 championship. She also earned Academic All-America honors during her Wildcat career and was honored with the Mary Roby Academic Achievement Award.     Since taking over the swimming program at The University of Texas in 1978, Eddie Reese has established a tradition of excellence in Austin and set the standard in collegiate swimming. The 2005 and 2006 ASCA Coach of the Year, an eight-time NCAA Coach of the Year and three-time United States Men's Olympic Team head coach, Reese has led Texas to nine NCAA team titles in his 30 seasons in Austin. After placing 21st at the NCAA Championships in his first season (1979) at Texas, Reese's teams have never finished lower than seventh at the national meet. His Texas team will enter the 2008-09 season with two incredible streaks to its credit: 29 consecutive top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championship and 29 consecutive conference titles.     Rob became the President and CEO of Swim Across America on January 1, 2016. Previously, Rob was the executive director of U.S. Masters Swimming. Under his leadership, USMS created a nationwide program that provides certification to coaches, instructors, and aquatic directors who are coaching adults. In 2012, Rob's team created the Swimming Saves Lives Foundation that advocates and provides grants to program partners that are teaching adults to swim. USMS membership increased more than 50% to more than 60,000 and revenue increased from $1M to $3.6M. Rob swam four years for Georgia Southern University, earning both his undergraduate and Masters degrees from GSU. He competed in the 2000 USA Olympic Trials. He coached for 20 years at the University of North Dakota where the women's team finished in the top 6 for 17 straight years at the NCAA Nationals, and he was awarded Coach Of the Year for NCAA Nationals in both 1989 and 1999.
