  • Ron McKee - The Striper Maineiac - 50 Years of Big Fish, Big Discoveries and Big Fun

    25/03/2021 Duration: 01h36min

Ron McKee - The Striper Maineiac - might be most famous for his incredibly high-quality striper plugs and his stunning hand-built rods. But what you may not know is he's also a helluvan angler. He holds more trophies than most people own fishing lures, and your fishing heroes were and are Ron's fishing buddies. But Ron McKee didn't become famous because of a well-managed Instagram account, or great photography uploaded to YouTube. Ron built his fame by standing in the water and fishing. And fishing. And fishing. And when he wasn't fishing, he listened to other great anglers. And he read. And he shared. And he researched. And then he went fishing again. And then he rinsed and repeated. Ron McKee is a member of the old school, when if you weren't the real deal, you didn't get to claim to be part of dream team. And when you listen to Ron talk, you can hear that. Ron's knowledge of striped bass runs deep. Almost as deep as his passion, which is seemingly endless. Enjoy this inte

  • If We Lose This Fish We Lose It All - A Conversation with Menhaden Defender's Paul Eidman

    04/11/2020 Duration: 01h16min

Bunker, Pogies, Menhaden. Maybe the unsexiest fish in the sea until you consider that it is quite literally the source of food for everything that swims and flies on the Atlantic Coast of North America. It also does NOTHING but swim around filtering our oceans and keeping them sparkling clean. And despite the importance of this weird cousin of the herring, bunker have been steadily declining in numbers for a long time due to overfishing and poor management. And the consequences - dirtier bays and oceans and far fewer gamefish- is the obvious result.  And if you're sitting there asking yourself why we would allow the ocean's "liver" to be systematically removed for the financial benefit of a very small group of people, then you're going to love listening to Capt. Paul Eidman, founder of Menhaden Defenders, tell us who's responsible for wiping out pogies, how we can stop them, and what the amazing results will be when we do. Menhaden Defenderswww.menhadendefenders.org/https://www.facebook.com/men

He is a devoted father and husband first and foremost, he is a driven angler, and guide, and he truly is a gracious and humble man. Jared's ability to see the good in situations is something all guides should strive for. His tenacity to be the best is also how all guides should be, as this is what the customers deserve. And his relentless pursuit to be the best father and husband is something at all men should strive for. Thank you Captain Raskob, and thank you guys! • Paul Dixon... Innovating Striped Bass on the flats.

    04/08/2020 Duration: 01h11min

In this episode we were lucky enough to sit down with Captain Paul Dixon of To The Point Charters based out of Montauk, New York. Captain Dixon is a pioneer when it comes to targeting Striped Bass on the flats in the northeast. Many of his tactics are what we use today, and those tactics came from days upon days of learning the hard way. Paul has been at the forefront of Striped Bass conservation, most notably with his work with Jamie Howard and the film Running the Coast. Paul was also on ESPN's Guide House, the first fishing reality show that featured guides in Montauk during the fall run and their day to day activities. When Paul is not guiding in Montauk, he can be found in Key Largo, Florida where he guides for tarpon, permit, and bonefish, and anything else that swims. If you want to learn from one of the best we highly recommend giving Captain Dixon a call. But make sure to do so early as he is in high demand. Captain Paul Dixon516-314-1185www.flyfishingmontauk.com

  • Moore Mad Than Ever! Hooked In New England Hooks The Mad Fisherman, Charlie Moore!

    12/05/2020 Duration: 01h19min

Charlie Moore, the Mad Fisherman, has a lot to be happy about. He pretty much singlehandedly changed the "fishing television show," from a drab series of "how-to" segments to an entertaining, little-bit-of-everything entertainment medium. He fishes with his sports heroes. He fishes with rock stars. He fishes with television and movie stars. But don't mistake Charlie's lust for life for a lack of seriousness when it comes time to get down to hooking up. He's as serious about fishing hard and seriously as any angler alive. And on top of it all, he's a helluva lot of fun to talk to.
