Recently at Chene Park near the beatiful water bordering between Detroit and Windsor, I got to see Shalamar featuring Carolyn Griffey,  Howard Hewett, guitarist Micki Free and the drummer Carlos Sargent!.  "The funky drummer"! Indira Milini Khan was born in Chicago and grew up in Los Angeles and New York City. The sultry young singer comes from a musical family; her mother is the legendary Pop/Soul icon Chaka Khan. Indira's musical influence stems from performers of varied genres such as: The Artist (Prince), Aretha Franklin, Minnie Riperton, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Sarah McLaughlin and Sheryl Crow. Indira began her professional music career at a young age. From the ages of fourteen to seventeen, she was the founding member of the Motown Records group Pretty in Pink. Carlos Kamakaze is the founder/co-songwriter and guitarist of the Philadelphia/NJ based female fronted Hard-Rock/Metal band, Kamakaze since 2008. He is also one of the guitarists from the legendary underground all Black Punk band documented in history established 1975 from Philadelphia, Pure Hell. Replacing the original guitarist, “Chip” since 1992, they are one of the last bands to perform with Sid Vicious from the Sex Pistols before he passed on to “Punk Rock Heaven” The music that is on the upcoming album produced by Lemmy Kilmeister(Motorhead) includes Carlos on all guitars. In addition to performing w/Pure Hell, Carlos is also the original/former guitarist from the Alternative/Hip-Hop group, Mix Match Sox. Including performing in an exclusive industrial/goth group, Sys2matik Ovrl0ad, he also will be in the upcoming lineup for Los Angeles speed-metal based group, Kalhalla playing bass .He has worked in the studio and performed with countless artists such as: L.A. Guns, Nine Inch Nails, Motorhead and more.

MICHAEL JASPER Michael Gabriel Jasper was born in Bronxville, New York on September 19, 1993, the youngest of four siblings and son of composer/recording artist, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy lifetime achievement award recipient, Chris Jasper, formerly of the recording groups Isley Brothers and Isley-Jasper-Isley.

Grady Harrell is a natural born entertainer.  Mr. Harrell comes from a musical family, his mom was a member of a soul group Friends of Distinction.  Mr. Harrell's natural personality shines in his stage plays and love for Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke.  Three solo projects that show his romantic charm and 80's and 90's vibe, which formerly he worked with two great groups Shalamar and The Whispers!  Grady has also toured with Patti Labelle and currently has his band, Groove City band based out of Vegas.  Also, a native entertainer of Los Angeles!

April Deep Aries Presents Producer/Singer/Songwriter Leon Sylvers III. Leon Sylvers is the founding members of the 1970's group, The Sylvers. With hits like "Boogie Fever" and "Misdemeanor" whose music was sampled by rapper D.O.C. in the late 80s with "Its funky enough". The Sylvers have been featured on UNSUNG! Mr. Sylvers has also produced several artists over the decades like The Whispers, Shalamar, Evelyn Champagne King and one of my childhood favorites, Five Star and one of the best groups, Guy w/Teddy Riley up until 2000.

April Deep Aries presents Author/Activist Ken Jackson. Ken is the author of several books. More recently, Lost and Found - One Man's Journey from sinner to saint; An Audience of One; LIFE - Living in Fullness Everyday; Living Righteous; and Out of a Whisper - A Compilation of Christian Short Stories. Jackson earlier works, what he likes to call, his old life's works included likes of titles like Colorful Matters, As If We Never Met, Reconcilable Sacrifices, which was a three part fictional series, no longer in print. His film projects included a documentary called Just Between Us and a feature film colorfully titled, Keith and Greg, also no longer in distribution. As an artist, Jackson does not shy away from interesting story-lines and culturally dynamic news headlines. But as Jackson puts it, "The world of Ken Jackson is anything but boring."

April Deep Aries presents Jason Michael, a native Detroiter, the biographer of "Strength of a Woman", the late great beautiful soulful singer Phyllis Hyman.  Jason,  Spirit of Detroit award winner, worked on the staff of Between The Lines, a Detroit based news and arts weekly, for which he has written for more than a decade. As an entertainment writer, he has interviewed everyone from Motown greats Martha Reeves and Mary Wilson to celebrities as wide ranging as Dionne Warwick, Dolly Parton and Boy George. Jason has a passion for urban music and spent a decade in the employ of Grammy award winner Betty Wright.   After being told time and time again that there was no market for a book about Phyllis Hyman, Jason formed JAM Books, LLC in 2007 to release his first book, Strength Of A Woman: The Phyllis Hyman Story.
