Jonathan and Duwalla track down the Harpes and Nancy. Epilogue- Duwalla returns to Moccasin Valley.

Nancy is kidnapped by the Harpes, and Jonathan and Duwalla must rescue her.

The legend of the lost silver mine causes more trouble for Jonathan, and when he does not return from the Battle of King's Mountain, Nancy enlists an unlikely ally to help find him.

The Revolutionary War has moved south. Banastre 'Bloody Ban' Tarleton is terrorizing the countryside, and a force of British-led loyalists threaten to take control of the Great Wagon Road, cutting off the southern colonies from the rest of the fragile union. Jonathan and the Overmountain Men go to war. They will meet the enemy at King's Mountain.

The men of Moccasin Valley run afoul of the women of the community. The Revolutionary War begins, and the British are inciting the Indians along the western frontier. Jonathan joins the fight against an invading Cherokee army led by the notorious chief Dragging Canoe.

After a prolonged time of war with the native tribes, Daniel Boone discharges the men of Moccasin Valley from service, but when Indians begin raiding again, only Duwala stands between them and Jonathan's family.​

Time has passed, and Jonathan and Nancy have married and moved to the Moccasin Valley over the mountains in southwest Virginia, but unrest among the native tribes threatens to shatter his dream, and a deadly attack brings him face-to-face with death. Can they survive on the new frontier?​

Jonathan returns to the New River for Nancy, but will a plot hatched by an enemy be his undoing?

Prologue- A dying Spanish priest gives a map to a Cherokee and begs him to keep it safe. 1763- Surveyor Jonathan Wood explores the land "over the mountains" and is stalked by someone or something unseen.
