The Carolina Panthers headed into the final day of the 2024 NFL Draft with glaring needs at tight end and cornerback and wasted no time on Saturday afternoon in Detroit by addressing those two positions. The Panthers opened the day by selecting Texas TE Ja'Tavion, who enters a tight end room lead by Tommy Tremble and Ian Thomas. Julian Council explains why he believes Sanders is the perfect complement to those two veterans. Then, in the fifth round, the Panthers selected Washington State CB Chau Smith-Wade to add depth to the position group. Despite the addition of Smith-Wade, Julian believes that the door is open for Stephon Gilmore to make a return to Carolina. During free agency, rebuilding the the offensive line was on of the Panthers main objectives, as the team struggled mightily on that side of the line of scrimmage in 2023.
