Tom began his career as a touring lighting director before being thrown into the FOH seat when the original FOH engineer went ill.  After 5 years of touring, Tom moved his focus to studio work and with his brother Chris worked at Unique Recording in New York. Then he was the resident mixer at what used to be known as "South Beach Studios", located on the ground floor of the Marlin Hotel in Miami Beach Florida.
