We want to experience God ’s miracles, yet most of life is regular and typical. So how do we magnify into the ordinary?

Peter begins by explaining that the truth he taught was based on what he saw as an eye witness and scriptures. He then warns us about false teachers. He describes them in four ways.

We often want to focus of the pleasant and comforting parts of God’s character, his love and mercy. He is also judge and his anger is righteous. Our passage today shows both sides of the Lord.

The story of Abram continues, this week God gives new names to Sarai and him. He also names two sons and affirms his covenant. As we reflect on the story what name do we need to claim for ourselves?

A different picture of Abram emerges as he rescues Lot. The father of a nation is pictured as a warrior that becomes a victor. We take cues from his battle to fight our own. Do you see yourself as a warrior and a victor?

God has made great promises to Abram about him having a place and a people. Yet the actions that follow do not reflect the promises instead they put them in jeopardy. What can we learn in practicing our faith from Abram’s example?

Today we make the transition from the generations of Shem to the life of Abram. We look at the promises of God, thier obstacles and the call to go. Like Abram we must decide between livning settled and stopping or being unsettled as we go.

In the words of Jesus we find his dreams for ourselves and the church. We kick off 2019 by reminding ourselves of Jesus’ passion beneath our core values as the LPBC Family.

Good News Great Joy. Joy in the birth and our joy now. How can our lives be filled with great joy.

Preparing was God’s active work before Jesus was born. John the Baptist was sent before Jesus to prepare the way. We reflect on the promises of preparation and celebrate how God prepared for our own salvation.
