Gonzalo Lopez who's responsible? #CollinsFamily #Escapedprisoner #TexasCorrections #RobertHurstNew details have emerged revealing how convicted murderer Gonzalo Lopez escaped a prisoner bus in Texas and what he did before killing a family of five, police say. Lopez's escape last month triggered one of the largest inmate search efforts in state history as hundreds of officers scoured the wooded area where he was believed to have been hiding. Authorities say the fugitive killed a family in their Leon County home last week, and he later died in a shootout with police. Just days before he killed 66-year-old Mark Collins and his four grandsons, Lopez broke into a neighboring property, according to spokesman Robert Hurst of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Collins and his grandchildren had been visiting the family's weekend ranch outside Centerville, Texas, located near where the inmate had escaped three weeks prior and within the perimeter police were searching following the escape, according to the Texa

    03/06/2022 Duration: 01h13min

Gonzalo Lopez the hunt is over, #GonzaloLopez #FugitiveEnforcement #nypd #escapedprisoner One of the most dramatic manhunts in Texas history ended late Thursday when a convicted murderer who had escaped from a prison bus last month was killed in a shootout with the police, hours after he became the prime suspect in the killing of five people at a home, the authorities said. The convict, Gonzalo Artemio Lopez, had been the prime suspect in the murders of four minors and one adult whose bodies were discovered on Thursday at a home near where he had escaped in May. The authorities said he had taken a vehicle from the home, a white Chevrolet Silverado, to drive out of the area. Late on Thursday night, police officers in Jourdanton, Texas, spotted Mr. Lopez, 46, driving the missing vehicle and disabled it by putting spike strips on the road, Jason Clark, the chief of staff at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, told reporters. Jourdanton is south of San Antonio and more than 200 miles southwest of the area

Active shooter America under fire The 18-year-old gunman who killed 21 people at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, was not confronted by police before he entered the school, a Texas law enforcement official said Thursday, contradicting earlier comments from authorities and raising further questions about the police response to the massacre. "He walked in unobstructed initially," Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Regional Director Victor Escalon said. "So from the grandmother's house, to the (ditch), to the school, into the school, he was not confronted by anybody." A DPS representative on Wednesday said a school resource officer had "engaged" with the suspect before he went in the school. Escalon's comments came in a news conference that added further confusion to the timeline of Tuesday's horrific shooting that left 19 children and two teachers dead. The massacre marked the deadliest US school shooting in nearly a decade and was at least the 30th school shooting at a K-12 school in 2022. And it ha

h more funerals and visitations scheduled Wednesday for victims of the deadliest US school shooting in nearly 10 years, more changes in authorities' narrative of how the May 24 massacre unfolded in the South Texas city of Uvalde are emerging. The Texas Department of Public Safety, or DPS, now says the door the shooter used to access Robb Elementary was closed, though not locked, when he entered before killing 21 people there. That's a change from last week, when DPS Director Col. Steven McCraw said a teacher had propped the back door open and left it that way. On Tuesday, department spokesperson Travis Considine told the Associated Press the teacher did prop the door open but closed it once she realized a shooter was on campus, and the door did not lock. The department's press secretary confirmed Tuesday to CNN the AP report was accurate. Nineteen children and two teachers were killed after an 18-year-old gunman entered adjoining classrooms and opened fire. 'We failed these children': Agony is compounded by o

Justice Department to review law enforcement's response to Uvalde school shooting. #Uvaldeshooting Former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton says it is “mind-boggling” how much Texas authorities mishandled last week’s school massacre. “I’ve never seen anything like it in all my years of policing,” Bratton said during an appearance on WABC 770’s “The Cats Roundtable” that aired Sunday. “I have so much anger at the moment at how mishandled this has been.” Bratton — who has twice served as the Big Apple’s top cop — said he was stunned that local Texas cops waited so long to enter Robb Elementary School on Tuesday while 18-year-old Salvador Ramos was inside killing 19 fourth-graders and two teachers. “To be hearing that some of those lives might have been saved. But a wrong decision was made apparently by a police chief with a six-person police force that was put in charge of the response to this horrendous incident,” he told radio host John Catsimatidis. “It’s mind-boggling and frustrating.” Bratton, who also headed

Fugitive Kaitlin Armstrong wanted in murder of cyclist Moriah Wilson: US Marshals #LoveTriangle Austin professional cyclist Colin Strickland apparently thought he was fooling his live-in girlfriend of three years, yoga teacher Kaitlin Armstrong. He snuck out to see a former fling — who was in town from San Francisco — early in the evening on May 11 and later texted Armstrong that he’d been off on an errand and his phone battery died. Armstrong knew better, police say. Video surveillance footage shows that one minute after Strickland, 34, dropped off his date, elite cyclist Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson, a black SUV matching Armstrong’s pulled up at the apartment on Maple Avenue in East Austin where Wilson was staying. Wilson, 25, was found shot to death with a 9mm handgun multiple times later that night by her friend. According to the arrest affidavit, police believe Armstrong, 35, killed Wilson in a jealous rage, using a gun given to her by Strickland earlier this year. UVALDE, Texas (KXAN) — Public safety officials on Friday revealed responding officers for Tuesday’s Uvalde school shooting made no attempts to breach a classroom to rescue the children inside from an active shooter for about an hour, because it was believed the incident had turned into a barricaded subject call. The 18-year-old shooter with a rifle killed 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary School that day. $175K anonymous donation to pay for Uvalde funeral services, Gov.
