In this episode of Origin Stories I speak with Stewart Lynch. I really enjoyed my conversation with Stewart because this episode was a bit different. Steward has been involved in Computer Science since before Computer Science was an official term. In this episode of Origin Stories I speak with Jane Chung, iOS Engineer @ Calm. This was a really fun episode because I've known Jane for a long time now, as she was my partner throughout the iOS Development bootcamp we did back in 2015. It was fun to look back on the app we built together during that bootcamp. Jane then moved on to be one of the fist full-time mobile engineers at Coinbase where she converted the app from Objective-C to Swift and rode the crazy crypto wave of 2017 all the way to Coinbase being the #1 app in the App Store for a period of time. Back in January of 2019 I put out a video (link below) asking people who had never had an iOS Developer job to apply for a new position at the startup I'm work at, Aluna. When I started my career someone took a chance on me when I wasn't quite ready, and it launched my career. I wanted to do the same for someone else.  That someone is Chris and we sit down and recap his third week on the job as a Jr. iOS Developer. In this episode of Origin Stories I speak with Jazbo, iOS Engineer at a 3D Laser Printer company called Glowforge. I was thrilled to finally get to sit down with Jazbo and hear his story. It was fascinating to hear how he grew up in Jamaica and never touched a computer until he was a teenager. After college he decided he wanted to learn software engineering and started watching videos online, which led to him joining the developer community on twitter. Through this network, he was able to land his job at Glowforge. I have made the decision to forgo the opportunities at a large company and go "Full-Time" YouTube and content creation.
