  • Jesus Teaches About Prayer

    31/07/2020 Duration: 24min

How easy it is to forget that Jesus has made a way for us to sit at His feet in intimate fellowship with the Triune God in prayer. Jesus took the time to outline exactly what prayer is and how we ought to pray, giving us a model of prayer that we can adapt for ourselves. Through prayer, we are able to speak to our Father in heaven because of the Holy Spirit’s and Jesus the Son’s mediating work. We pray to ask Him for what we need and long for, yes, but we also pray to commune with Him. In this session, we’ll discuss how Jesus taught us to pray and we’ll reflect on the amazing gift of communication that prayer is for the saints.

  • Jesus, the Deliverer, Is Born (3/19/20)

    20/03/2020 Duration: 20min

The Son of God came into the world as a lowly baby, born of the young virgin Mary. This tiny bundle of joy, both fully man and fully God, left the glory of heaven in order to rescue His people from their sins. God’s people had been waiting for centuries for their promised King. As they were on the lookout for a powerful deliverer to arrive on the scene, the humble servant Jesus quietly descended to earth in a way no one expected. The promised Messiah had appeared, though His arrival took shape in such a quiet, meek way that most did not recognize it. In this session, we will take a look at just a few of the truths surrounding Christ’s birth that point to His coming to earth to bring majestic rescue to His precious people. *The content for this Bible Study comes from The Gospel Project.

  • John, the Herald, Is Born (3/12/20)

    20/03/2020 Duration: 18min

In this session we get a tiny peek into the great purpose and incredible planning of God. Through a barren couple, God brought forth John, who would spend his life preparing for and proclaiming the arrival of the Messiah. The story of John displays truths found in Psalm 139:13-14 and Ephesians 2:10, namely, that we are fearfully and wonderfully made for a great purpose that God prepared for us long ago. God has hand-woven each of us in the womb so that our individual lives and work would point to the truth and the glory of the gospel. *The content for this Bible Study comes from The Gospel Project.

  • "God Revives His People Through a Scribe" (2/20/20)

    21/02/2020 Duration: 20min

In the beginning of Nehemiah’s memoirs, we see God’s kindness in raising up the right leaders for the task of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. In this session, we will see how the hearts of His people would be stirred through gathering to hear the word of God, confess sin, and commit to obedience as an expression of a sincere relationship. Consequently, we get a picture of God’s primary way of working in and through His people to accomplish the work He would have for them, namely, through the preaching of God’s Word as the people of God gather to worship.

  • "The Promise of a Coming King" (1/30/20)

    31/01/2020 Duration: 20min

In this session, we are going to look at God’s declaration to His people regarding the rebuilding of the temple. The small second temple was but a foretaste of the ultimate temple that God would offer to His children—the Messiah. Across the Old Testament, God was working among His people to prepare them for the Messiah, and neither their stumbling nor the furious opposition of His enemies could thwart His plans. His purposes would be accomplished. This coming Temple would be far superior to the temple they were rebuilding, and even the first temple that Solomon built. The Messiah would provide a sacrifice that would end all sacrifices. His work would not be easy, but He would accomplish it, and we will be saved because of it.

  • "The Rebuilding of the Temple" (1/23/20)

    24/01/2020 Duration: 21min

In this session we will consider how God’s promise of His presence is a primary motivator to obedience. Too often we think of obedience in the Christian life as perfunctory behavior that seems mundane. This text reminds us that obedience is the natural response to the presence of God, and the presence of God in the people’s rebuilding of the temple in Haggai points forward to the ultimate act of God’s presence being known in the coming of Jesus. This Old Testament book will prove relevant to us as we realize that we are living out the same promise and commitment as the Israelites did in the context of Haggai.

  • "The Return of Exiles" (1/16/20)

    17/01/2020 Duration: 22min

In this session we will walk with Israel as they are brought out of Babylonian exile and returned to their homeland. We will see that God is both faithful to keep His promises and that He delights in His children. We will also see that God’s activity on our behalf frees us to worship Him. It is in experiencing God and His work to secure our freedom that we see ourselves for who we really are, see Him for who He really is, and our lives can overflow in authentic worship and celebration of God.

  • "The Vision of Future Justice" (1/9/20)

    10/01/2020 Duration: 20min

In the Book of Obadiah, we find a warning that God remembers sin and that a day is coming when He will judge the world. In this session, we will see that even as God judges sin, He makes a way for the deliverance of His people through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, whereby He no longer holds our sin against us. Because we have received God’s grace and mercy by faith in Jesus, we are to have compassion and concern for the oppressed and distressed in our culture as we share the gospel with them and even with those who take advantage of them.

  • "God’s Promises Sustain His People" (1/2/20)

    03/01/2020 Duration: 22min

Daniel 7 marks an important shift away from the biographical material found in the first six chapters in order to present some prophetic messages. Because God’s people (the Jews) were in Babylonian exile, this chapter provided immediate hope to a discouraged population. The promises found within these verses, however, are just as comforting in the present as they were in their original context. In this session, we will learn that unlike the temporary kingdoms of this earth, Jesus Christ will reign eternally over the kingdom of God. By forecasting the unrivaled strength of the coming Messiah, Daniel gives us a glimpse into the conclusion of God’s plan for the universe.

  • "Immanuel, God with Us" (12/26/19)

    27/12/2019 Duration: 23min

Across the centuries of the Old Testament, God made promises to restore humanity through the Messiah from Israel. But the Old Testament ends with lots of God’s promises unfulfilled. In Matthew 1:18-25, we see Jesus as the continuation and fulfillment of God’s rescue mission to the world. Conceived through the Holy Spirit and born to a virgin, Jesus is unlike any other human being. He is fully God and fully man, and He came to save people from their sin. The events surrounding His birth fulfill Old Testament prophecy and show us that Jesus is, in fact, the promised Christ, Immanuel, God with us. And just as He used Joseph, God desires to use our faith-driven obedience to fulfill His promises of salvation and restoration.

  • "God’s Authority Sustains His People" (12/12/19)

    13/12/2019 Duration: 20min

After watching Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walk out of the fiery furnace, Nebuchadnezzar again boasted of his self-importance, inviting the judgment of God. Remarkably, his most offensive expressions of pride followed his giving lip service to the supremacy of our God, which highlights the deceptive nature of a false humility. This session warns us about the dangers of pride while also helping us appreciate God’s willingness to humble the proud.
