Joint press conference with the Ho-Chunk Nation sharing updates on the economic impact of a future casino and convention center in Beloit. If all approvals move forward at the federal and state level, this project could add 1,500 direct jobs with hundreds more indirect and ancillary positions coming to the area. A few highlights from the Ho-Chunk Nation's proposed project: *$405 million project *1,500 employees *2,200 slot machines *300 room hotel *40,000-square-foot indoor waterpark *Convention center *5 shops and restaurants *Employee day care There will be opportunities for public hearings and information sessions in the future. The Ho-Chunk Nation needs the approval of the Secretary of Interior and then the Wisconsin governor before they build the casino. Should all approvals come in by the end of 2019, construction could begin in 2020 with the development opening in 2021. City officials spoke during the press conference, sharing their support for this future project.
