What If technology keeps advancing at the current rate; will we ever lose jobs to automation? When tasks are made simpler with robots, automation, and artificial intelligence, and when their implementation becomes more widespread, whose to say that someday our current jobs and careers won't get replaced. It's a futuristic idea, but one that lies just within our realm of imagination. And so we must ask ourselves, "what if?" What if employment opportunities become obsolete? How would a society completely reliant on artificial intelligence earn an income when merely human skill-sets offer no value in comparison? There comes a time when we must ask ourselves-- how much is too much? As reliance on technology grows and becomes more intrinsically rooted in our daily lives, we have to wonder if we are missing the bigger picture of life itself. We walk through life very distracted, we become compulsive phone checkers. Soon there will be augmented reality glasses that will allow us to dive even deeper into distraction. And if Facebook wasn't already psychologically invasive enough, it's now developing future technology to incorporate mind-communication and the sense of touch. ~How much technology do you want in your life? ~Do you ever need to take breaks from social media or make a conscious choice to turn phone notifications off? ~Do you think it's OK to post pictures of your children on Facebook?

We take a quick look back at Popular Science's description of the "Hovertrain" taken from the 1968 August issue. This leads us into a discussion about a modern iteration dubbed the "Hyperloop". It is designed to handle speeds faster than a passenger jet and it possibly is the safest way to travel. Is the Hyperloop a pipe dream or could it be the next transportation revolution? Travel backward in time via Popular Science archive to an article from 1976-- where they pose the question-- “Are You Safe from Electronic Snoopers”. Popular Science warns of the subtle strategies of wiretappers, claiming that a microphone could be as tiny as an aspirin, or that a radio transmitter could inconspicuously be hidden inside a pack of cigarettes so as to go unnoticed by the unsuspecting victim. In 1976 the Right of Privacy act outlawed wiretapping without consent. But today there’s a new kind of privacy invasion. In what ways do we compromise our privacy by clicking on terms of agreement, and each consecutive time we use the internet.
