Today we hear Derek Prince explain that the word Christ means “anointed with the Holy Spirit.” It corresponds to the Old Testament title, Messiah. God promised Israel an anointed deliverer and king and that promise was fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth.

God’s salvation is not found in religion or commandments, but rather in the person who bears the name of Savior. Salvation is in a person—it takes a person to bring salvation. Simeon said of the babe, Jesus, “My eyes have seen your salvation.”

The title, “the Lion of the tribe of Judah” is given to describe Jesus in the last book of the Bible, the book of Revelation. This indicates to us that not only was Jesus born a Jew, raised and educated as a Jew – but that He will remain a Jew until the end of days.

Jesus as the Lamb of God set an example for us to follow. For instance, He committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth. When they hurled insults against Him, Jesus did not retaliate. When He suffered, Jesus made no threats. And, because of humility, Jesus was exalted. This powerful teaching will encourage you that “The way to become a lion is to start as a lamb.”

Biblical names are very significant—they always have meaning. That is particularly true of the names or titles of Jesus. Realize the fulfillment of God’s purposes in you life.The new person within us must be brought to maturity through a process of cultivation. As we spend time in God’s Word, we behold His glory and we are changed by His truth. Thereafter we must systematically and progressively deny the demands of the old self and yield instead to the influence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit wants to enlighten our eyes to see what God has for us in the new man.

The very nature of Jesus; within us.Today, we explored how the new self is the product of God’s Word, the truth. In the new self, God’s purpose and His image are imparted to us. The nature of the new self can be described by the words, righteousness and holiness. The new self is born from the seed of the Word of God, which is divine, eternal, incorruptible, and so our nature produced from that seed also is divine, eternal, and incorruptible. It’s the very nature of Jesus Himself.

Execution is the solution!Yesterday Derek taught on identifying the old and new self, today he will teach on the need to learn God’s solution for the problem of the old self. Listen as Derek shares three things which are not God’s solution for the old nature: self, law, and religion. Those methods cannot change the rebellious and corrupt nature of the old self. God’s remedy is execution of the old nature—the execution that took place when Jesus died on the cross for us.
