On August 27, 1990, Stevie Ray Vaughn was killed in a helicopter crash in Wisconsin. From humble beginnings, Stevie emerged as one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame (2000) & the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2015), he is revered by legendary rock and blues musicians alike. While he battled with addiction for 25 of his 35 years, by the end of his life he was able to beat drugs and alcohol and use his life experiences to help others that were struggling with substance abuse. Remaining humble, even during the pinnacle of his success, he truly reflects the values of the Lone Star State. Listen as the guys explore the life and music of this Texas Legend.

The “Mother Road” of America or otherwise known as “Main Street of America” started in the 1920’s and wound from Chicago to LA before being largely replaced by interstate freeways in the late 1950’s. January 10, 1901 was an epic day in Texas history when the Spindletop oil well erupted down near Beaumont. From then on, Texas and oil have gone hand in hand. Kevin and Kyle talk about the impact of oil on Texas. Enjoy!

This is a marketing gimmick that works. All the truck makers appreciate that almost 25% of all trucks are sold in Texas. They use the Texas State Fair as an annual testing ground and supersize their base truck models with niceties that Texans and other Americans will love – and then they call it the Texas Edition. This marketing campaign in 1985 was launched with the edginess of Texas amidst the “Keep America Beautiful” campaign. Celebrities and pro athletes have supported this campaign ever since and it made a huge impact on litter in Texas and how Texans love to keep their state litter free. Enjoy!
