  • Wild City #140 - Didi Han

    07/09/2017 Duration: 48min

South Korean DJ Didi Han is one of Asia’s fastest rising stars. One of the forces behind Pute Deluxe; arguably Seoul’s best party and one of the region’s most exciting selectors seamlessly blending hip-hop, trap, R&B and house. If you’ve kept up with us over the last week you would have noticed that Didi Han is playing a (not so secret) secret warehouse party thrown by Auster WIP on 9 September. Ahead of this, she’s dropped an exclusive mix for Wild City. Playing a rare blend of unheard remixes and classics, it’s a stomper, that starts off with Snoop Dogg (‘Tha Shiznit’) and ends with a remix of ‘Superstition’ by Stevie Wonder stopping over at tracks like ‘Pump Up The Jam (Remix)’ by Full Crate and Tall Black Guys’ ‘Come With Me and Fly’, along the way. A lively mix, it’s a good indicator of the energy Didi Han will bring to the Auster WIP party on Saturday. Aerate Sound burst onto the scene with their debut album ‘Only For External’ earlier this year. Since then, they’ve gone on to play Boiler Room in Bangalore and have been lauded for not only their live performances but their studio work as well. Apart from occasional appearances on the decks at Consolidate events and a few loose singles, BlindNight is a true newcomer to the game. In that vein, it made sense for the two artists to collaborate on a mix for Wild City; one to show off his skills and announce himself; the other, a much overdue mix after such a successful year. In true Consolidate camp style, the mix is exactly as intriguing, diverse and distinctive as you’d imagine. The nearly 50-minute mix is full of rare hip-hop, beatbreaks, samples and rap that you’re not bound to hear on the dance floor. Artists like Slugabed (‘Feeding Time’) and Onra (‘Hide and Seek’) make appearances but it’s the Death Grips x Danny Brown collaboration along with Shabazz Palaces that had us intrigued. 18/05/2017 Duration: 37min

Releasing music consistently for around a year now, the strength of sparkle & fade’s latest EP, ‘20’ took us by surprise. Running for just under 40 minutes his mix is the perfect companion to grey skies, reminiscent of lost lovers and perfect for dreary mornings and lonely nights. There might just be a number of tracks that you’ll be introduced to through this mix; the more known ones are Giraffage’s ‘Make You Love Me’ and Charle xcx’s ‘Need Ur Love’, except the latter is a japanese wallpaper remix. It’s also apt that at the end of this melancholic mix, sparkle & fade brings in ‘Dead by Christmas’ by Suicide, Part 2 -- a perfect ending to an emotional ride. 04/05/2017 Duration: 27min

Kavya Trehan is a restless multi-talented creative. She has dabbled as a singer-songwriter, a model, one-half of indie pop duo Mosko and dipped her toes in TV commercials, movies and theatre. Doing a mix for Wild City seemed inevitable and considering it was her first ever time making a mix, she’s managed to expertly put together a bevvy of beautiful tracks. A downtempo and relaxing selection of tunes from ‘I shall not complain’ by English band Stateless to Khalid’s ‘Location’ it’s an excellent compilation. The mix never picks up speed, maintaining it’s slow, steady rhythmic base - something to listen to on a gloomy afternoon or a dismal evening (we see that as a good thing). A sure fire companion for those mysterious times. For a tracklist and further info, head over here: http://www.thewildcity.com/EN/music.xhtml/article/12025-wild-city-132-kavya-trehan
