  • Bodacious Horror: Episode 52 - Xtrordinary

    25/03/2014 Duration: 01h38min

On this week's most Bodacious of Horror Podcasts, your world weary hosts are homeward bound, with Roscoe returning to the UK after a spell in the colonies, and Gill returning to Knightswood after a morning in Kinning Park. In recognition of this admittedly sketchy provocation for patriotism, our focus turns to this sceptred isle, with 3 science fiction shockers sprung from the fertile pastures of this green and pleasant land. First up we have the UK and Ireland's own Godzilla clone "Gorgo" (1961), followed swiftly by England's answer to Alien Resurrection, "Xtro" (1983), and closing out with the alcohol-themed horror comedy "Grabbers" (2013). Along the way we also talk about cleaning products, pancakes and Jack the Ripper. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 51 - CB Radio (featuring J.T. Petty)

    25/03/2014 Duration: 02h17min

On this week's Bodacious Horror Podcast, Gill & Roscoe are most privileged to be joined by acclaimed writer and director J.T. Petty for an enormous end-of-Kurgan Heritage Month extravaganza! J.T. will be sharing anecdotes about his career, his influences and his forthcoming projects, as well as discussing 2 of his most recent works - "The Burrowers" (2008) and "Hellbenders 3D" (2013) - starring the Kurgan himself, Mr. Clancy Brown. In-keeping with the theme, we'll also be discussing Paul Verhoeven's "Starship Troopers" (1997) and it's socio-political ramifications. Yeah. As if that wasn't enough, Roscoe will regale us with tales from his trip to the US of A, including a visit to The Witch's Dungeon Classic Movie Museum in Bristol CT and the US premiere of Troma's "Return to Nuke 'Em High Vol 1". Meanwhile, Gill offers practical advice for faith-groups hoping to utilise "Man of Steel" as an educational tool. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 49 - Kamen Sutra

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h58min

Gill and Roscoe return refreshed from a 6 week hiatus with a hastily sellotaped together show, and bearing the gifts of excellent banter, obscure references and terrible impressions! Don't call it a comeback - we've been here for years! Well, one year, to be precise, and as such it's also our belated one year anniversary show, featuring some nice messages from friends near and far! We also find the time to discuss some films, including the cult gore classic "Highlander" (1986), the notorious slasher "Brazil" (1985) and the tame-by-comparison "Event Horizon" (1997). It's our birthday, we're watching what we want. Thanks to all for sticking with us and keeping it lit during our hiatus, more good things to come. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 47 - Amityvilified

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h57min

On this week's Bodacious Horror podcast, things are getting intense, as your petrified presenters prepare to take on two fright flicks that pertain to be 'based on a true story'. Join Gill and Roscoe as they discuss the infamous "Amityville Horror" (1979) and the recent blockbusting James Wan joint "The Conjuring" (2013). Sticking with the theme of possessive spectres and this time 'based on a good story', we also take time to salute legendary horror and b-movie icon Karen Black by discussing "Burnt Offerings" (1976). All opinions expressed throughout the show are exactly that - opinions - and this podcast is presented purely for entertainment purposes only. Gill also gives his verdict on "Man of Steel". • Bodacious Horror: Episode 45 - BoHoPo Jumps the Shark (feat Thomas Hughes)

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h29min

This week, Gill & Roscoe are joined by Bodacious Horror's Resident Nerd Thomas Hughes to discuss all things "shark", covering "Sand Sharks" (2011), "Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus" (2012) and "Jaws: The Sharksploitation Edit" (2009). We also take time out from such weighty matters to discuss the big questions of our time, including "Can a sharkologist be a doctor?", "What's with people having two haircuts?" and "Are dolphins the arseholes of the sea?". The relative merits of the Atkins and Benkins diets are assessed in agonising detail, while we discover "The Phantom Menace" is still upsetting your amiable hosts almost 15 years on. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 44 - Robotrimming

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h18min

In this week's obscenely titled Bodacious Horror Podcast, your friendly neighbourhood automatons Gill & Roscoe get glitchy discussing movies involving robots. So robots aren't particularly horrific. Whatchagonna do? Nevertheless we've got some "horrors" for your listening pleasure this week, folks. There's "Robotropolis"(2011) - a low budget sci-fi action adventure romp, "Atlantic Rim" (2013) from your friends at The Asylum and Guillermo Del Toro's high concept summer blockbuster "Pacific Rim" (2013). We also discuss Australian border protection policy, Worzel Gummidge and our recent appearance on The Phantom Erik's "100 Years of Horror" talking about "The Horror of Dracula" (1958). • Bodacious Horror: Episode 43 - Field Day of the Dead (featuring Richard Glover)

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h47min

This week, Gill & Roscoe arrive fashionably late to the party in discussing Ben Wheatley's darkly comedic masterpiece "A Field In England" (2013). While we're sorry for being tardy, we bring in tow an extra special gift that we're sure you'll agree was worth the wait - an interview with Richard Glover (who portrayed 'Friend' in "A Field in England" and 'Martin' in Wheatley's "Sightseers" (2012)). As if that wasn't enough, we offer a review of the Brad Pitt epic "World War Z" (2013) and the Uwe Boll produced epic fail "Apocalypse Z" (previously known as "Zombie Massacre"). Along the way we also dwell a little too long on the homoeroticism of cage fighting, Ewan McGregor impressions and the joy of zeds... Also, Gill gives his verdict on Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel". • Bodacious Horror: Episode 42 - Original Universal Monsters (feat Cortlandt Hull)

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h48min

This week, Gill & Roscoe are joined by the writer and director of the new documentary "Phantom of the Opera: Unmasking the Masterpiece" (2013), Cortlandt Hull. A veteran collector and curator of the Witch's Dungeon Classic Movie Museum in Bristol, CT, Cortlandt has more anecdotes than we've had hot dinners. And we've had a few. Cortlandt regales us with first and second hand stories about Henry Hull, Lon Chaney Sr, Vincent Price, Carla Laemmle, Tom Savini, Ron Chaney, Josephine Hull, Boris Karloff, Mark Hamill and many, many more. This episode was an absolute joy to record and we hope you guys enjoy listening to it as much as we did making it. You can check out the restoration work Cortlandt carried out for this project, pick up a copy of the DVD and take a virtual tour of the Witch's Dungeon at http://www.preservehollywood.org Website: www.bodacioushorror.co.uk Twitter: @BodaciousHorror and @GillRockatansky Email: feedback@BodaciousHorror.co.uk Facebook: www.facebook.com/BodaciousHorror Gill & Roscoe a

  • Bodacious Horror: Episode 41 - Carnevil (featuring Sinn Bodhi, formerly of WWE)

    24/03/2014 Duration: 02h13min

On this week's very special episode of the Bodacious Horror Podcast, Gill and Roscoe are joined by professional wrestler, artist, author and the undisputed Warlord of Weird, Sinn Bodhi (formerly Kizarny of the WWE). Sinn joins your fearless hosts to explore the darker side of circuses and sideshows, talking about his time as a carnival performer, wrestling for both TNA and WWE, comic books and much, much more! Along the way we talk about a few films that put the 'evil' into carnival, including "Something Wicked This Way Comes" (1983), "Freaks" (1931) and "The Funhouse" (1981). Gill also gives his verdict on "Man of Steel" and Roscoe dons his 3D glasses to talk "Night of the Living Dead 3D" and "Night of the Living Dead: Re-Animation". As ever, if you enjoy the show share us with your nearest and dearest and leave us a nice review on iTunes if you’re feeling charitable. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 40 - "You may now kill the bride"

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h19min

In this week's Bodacious Horror Podcast, Gill & Roscoe attempt to cheer themselves up (after the frankly harrowing movies of the previous 2 weeks) with a zany and loosey goosey episode focusing on the theme of weddings! Fans of terrible music will swoon over our review of "The Bride" (1985) featuring tantric lovegod Sting, while fans of terrible films will be enraptured by our discussion of "The Newlydeads" (1987). Fans of terrible podcasting etiquette will also be impressed to hear us playing "Injustice: Gods Among Us" while discussing that one - grounds for divorce if ever I heard it. In our main feature, we finally seal the deal with the [Rec] trilogy, reviewing Paco Plaza's "[Rec] Genesis" (2012). Along the way Gill gives us his verdict on Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" (2013), Roscoe talks about meeting the Evil Elvis himself, while a few incredibly subtle hints are dropped about the identity of next week's very special guest. As ever, if you enjoy the show share us with your nearest and dearest and

  • Bodacious Horror: Episode 39 - I've Seen (Found) Footage Too

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h45min

In the second Bodacious Horror episode focusing on the "found footage" genre, Gill & Roscoe temporarily ditch Skype, and return to their roots to record in the luxurious surroundings of Rockatansky Towers. They talk about the Toxic Avenger, Chris O'Dowd and Sleepwalking Cannibals, before getting down to the nitty gritty. And by God it's gritty this week folks. Starting off light with "Rec 2" (2009) and "The Last Exorcism" (2010), things take a turn for the worst when we get into "Cannibal Holocaust" (1980) and "The Poughkeepsie Tapes" (2007), a section in which Roscoe does his best Mary Whitehouse and Billy Graham impressions while Gill comes across like the Marquis de Sade crossed with Anton LaVey. Either way, neither are particularly sure whether to ban this filth or give it an Oscar. As ever, if you enjoy the show share us with your nearest and dearest and leave us a nice review on iTunes if you’re feeling charitable. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 38 - I've Seen (Found) Footage (feat Shane Bitterling)

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h44min

This week's episode of Gill & Roscoe's Bodacious Horror Podcast sees your hosts turning their attention towards the "found footage" genre for the first of two weeks looking at this ever-controversial strain of horror cinema. We talk about a number of examples of the genre, but focus our attention on the magnificent "[Rec]" (2007), and the pre-Blair Witch forest-based frightener, "The Last Broadcast" (1998). We're also joined this week by Shane Bitterling, the writer of Full Moon Features' latest release, "Reel Evil" (2012). Shane talks about his work with Full Moon (including writing the 10th movie in the "Puppetmaster" series "Puppetmaster X: Axis Rising"), his experiences on the set of "Reel Evil" and his plans for the future. As ever, discussion is wild and bizarre, discussing publicly self-gratifying actresses, Jim Tavaré's comedy work and that time Michael Parkinson got possessed by a demon on live TV. As ever, if you enjoy the show share us with your nearest and dearest and leave us a nice review on iT

  • Bodacious Horror: Episode 37 - Heroes, Villains and Madmen

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h29min

This week’s episode of the Bodacious Horror Podcast is short but sweet, as Roscoe was ill and Gill has been kept under house arrest by the new series of “Arrested Development” on Netflix. We watched two very different movies this week, namely the anti-horror hit of last Summer, “Berberian Sound Studio” (2012) and Jason Trost’s “All Superheroes Must Die” (2013) AKA “Vs”. We’re also joined by Lowell Dean, the writer and director of “Wolf Cop”, a high-concept project out of Canada and currently in the running for a $1million development deal in the Cinecoup competition. Lowell talks to us about horror, the making of the “Wolf Cop” trailer and his love of superheroes. As a side note, if you listen closely during this segment, you can hear a steady thudding that some have speculated may be one of “Wolf Cop”’s competitors in a trunk… As ever, if you enjoy the show share us with your nearest and dearest and leave us a nice review on iTunes if you’re feeling charitable. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 36 - Harryhausen of the Wolfman

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h42min

In this week's inappropriately titled and much-delayed episode of the Bodacious Horror Podcast, your irredeemable hosts Gill & Roscoe meet once again to discuss the fantastic works and worlds of Ray Harryhausen. We talk about Harryhausen's talent, influence and legacy, and pay sincere tribute to one of the true greats in the history of horror, fantasy and sci-fi. We discuss a range of Harryhausen classics, but we talk in most detail about "It Came from Beneath the Sea" (1955), "Jason and the Argonauts" (1963) and "Clash of the Titans" (1981). Gill shows off his impressive knowledge of ancient Greek mythology, while Roscoe silently weeps at the thought of losing gore-hungry listeners. In a vain effort to retain some of you bloodhounds, we also discussed the fine monster mash throwback "House of the Wolfman" (2009). As ever, if you enjoy what we're doing, share it with your friends or leave us a review on iTunes if you've got time on your hands. Twitter: @BodaciousHorror and @GillRockatansky Email: Bodac

  • Bodacious Horror: Episode 35 - Any Witch Way You Can (feat Doyle of The Misfits)

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h42min

On this week's Bodacious Horror Podcast, Gill & Roscoe are joined by very special guest, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein of the legendary horror punk band The Misfits. Doyle discusses his formative years as a monster kid, being back on the road with Glenn Danzig, the forthcoming Danzig Legacy TV special and the new DOYLE album "Abominator"! As if that wasn't enough, we also talk about horror films dealing with witchcraft, including "Horror Hotel" (1960) (AKA "City of the dead"), "Witchfinder General" (1968) (AKA "The Conqueror Worm") and "Lords of Salem" (2013). We tried to contain our fiendish excitement on this one, but we failed, creeps. As ever, 'all hell breaks loose', and we end up talking about some pretty random stuff with the big guy. Anyway, enjoy, share and subscribe if you dig it. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 34 - Evolutionary Horror (feat Frank Dello Stritto)

    24/03/2014 Duration: 02h11min

This week, Gill and Roscoe are joined by horror historian and writer Frank J. Dello Stritto, co-author of "Vampire over London: Bela Lugosi in Britain". Frank joins us to discuss Darwin's theory of evolution as presented in horror, with discussion of "Murders in the Rue Morgue" (1932), "Island of Lost Souls" (1932), "The Abominable Snowman" (1957) and "The Time Machine" (1960). Along the way, Frank tells us about his time researching "Vampire over London" in the UK, his articles for Monster Bash magazine and talks about his most recent book "A Quaint and Curious Volume of Forgotten Lore". Bookending the interview, Gill and Roscoe discuss "Iron Man 3" (2013), "Evil Dead" (2013) and Ed Brubaker & Sean Phillips's recent Lovecraft-inspired noir comic, "Fatale". This is a chaotic one, creeps, so sit back and enjoy the ride. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 33 - Bill Oberst Jr. Special

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h34min

On this week's very special episode of the Bodacious Horror Podcast, Gill and Roscoe are joined by award-winning actor Bill Oberst Jr. for a fun and relaxed chat about his career, the inspiration behind his work and his plans for the future. We discuss a number of Bill's movies including "Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies" (2012), "The Haunting in Salem" (2011), "Scary or Die" (2012), "Excision" (2012), "Nude Nuns with Big Guns" (2010), as well as a few short films including "Assassins" (2011) and "The Beast" (2012). Tangents are plentiful, touching on Star Trek, Newscasters and Simon Pegg's Chocolate beanie but we're glad to say that we weren't solely responsible this time! Sit back and enjoy a chilled out and fun conversation with a horror legend in the making. We had a blast and we hope you will too. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 32 - Never too late to be a hero

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h41min

This week, Gill & Roscoe are joined by friend of the show and renowned sexologist/film critic Jonathon Jonathon Junior to discuss some lost classics of the VHS era, including "The Eliminators" (1986), "Project Shadowchaser" (1992) and "Ninja Terminator"(1985). We also finally discuss the obscure high-brow critique of privatisation and ghettoization that is "Robocop" (1987), and wax nonsensical about how utterly awesome Astron-6's "Manborg" (2011) and "Biocop" (2012) actually are. Chaos naturally ensues, as Jonathon tells us a pack of lies, we give props to 1990s sitcom "Blossom" and some names are most definitely dropped. All characters (and presenters) appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 31 - Oh So Tyred

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h30min

This week's Bodacious Horror sees Gill and Roscoe taking their metaphorical foot off the metaphorical gas pedal and slipping quietly into metaphorical slow lane. We discuss transport-themed horror including "Rubber" (2010), "Creep Van" (2012) and "Super Hybrid" (2011). We also talked about our two favourite entries in the CineCoup competition "Gillian's Just Right" and "Wolf Cop". With The Man on Gill's back and a week of train journeys and conferences for Mr Vee, this episode was never going to be a drunken lolfest. Our little show may vary in quality week on week, but so does life, my friends. Stick some smooth jazz over the back of it, and enjoy it for what it is. Normal service will be resumed next week. • Bodacious Horror: Episode 30 - Roscoechella

    24/03/2014 Duration: 01h46min

This week, things get messy as Roscoe celebrates the dawn of his fourth decade in the privacy of the internet. We talk about the frankly atrocious but highly addictive emo band Falling In Reverse, coffee-makers and try to avoid getting too political. The fourth wall is, as ever, turned into a pile of rubble as your amiable hosts get progressively merrier as the evening wears on. As it's his birthday, we discussed three of Roscoe's recent favourites, namely "Dark and Stormy Night" (2009), "Monster Brawl" (2011) and "Sightseers" (2013). Gill was not so taken by most of these, but we had fun, and we hope you will too.
