We Paid To See This

You could not get two more polarizing films OR two more polarizing reactions to them! This episode we discuss Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Roald Dahl's children's novel 'The BFG' and the latest strangefest from director Todd Solondz, 'Wiener-dog'.  

We paid to see three extraordinary films this week: The New Zealand adventure comedy 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' by director Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, Boy) starring Sam Neill and newcomer Julian Dennison,  The fashion obsessed art-house thriller 'Neon Demon' by director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives) starring Elle Fanning, and the charming gross-out existential comedy 'Swiss Army Man' directed by The Daniels and starring Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe.    

We went to see the documentary 'Tickled', The Blake Lively shark attack thriller 'The Shallows' and the mega-blockbuster sans Will Smith sequel to Independence Day - Independence Day: Resurgence. We got new digs, Anthony got new shoes and a celebrity was rude to Anthony at BevMo!  

We saw 3 movies since our last podcast - Pixar's 'Finding Dory', unintentionally funny scary movie 'The Conjuring 2' and 'Raiders!' - an incredible documentary about a group of friends who made a shot-for-shot remake of 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' in 1982.   Plus we find out what Anthony did to get in trouble as a kid and why Darren almost got his lights punched out by a group of cinema patrons. 

We paid to see two comedy movies this week: Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (starring Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Zac Efron and Chloe Grace Moretz ) and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (starring Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer). It's about to get Schwifty in here!
