(Spoiler alert: 'Nova looked pretty good.) In women's basketball, Harry Perretta's squad hit the 20-win mark for the sixth season in a row. Mary Gedaka was a weapon off the bench, and Alex Louin was locked in over the weekend in victories over St. John's and Seton Hall. • Pandemonium in Philly, Super Performances, and a Whole Lotta Threes

    06/02/2018 Duration: 01h07min

The Villanova Wildcats are off to a blazing 22-1 start and sit atop college basketball with a No. 1 ranking for the fifth straight week in a row. Villanova got two solid wins against the Creighton Bluejays and the Seton Hall Pirates. However, those victories were overshadowed by the Philadelphia Eagles' first Super Bowl title ever. Unfortunately, Jay Wright couldn't make it to Minneapolis for the game (*cough* Thanks, Seton Hall), but his team performed well over the weekend. They will now prepare for St. John's on Wednesday night, a team that's fresh off an upset of Duke. Women's basketball held off a tough Georgetown rally. We also discuss why the Hoyas might not be an ideal Big East Tournament match for the Lady 'Cats. Lastly, we answer some Twitter questions. Learn more about your ad choices. • The Super Bowl Weekend Basketball Power Hour Preview

    01/02/2018 Duration: 40min

It's probably more like 40 minutes long and not an hour, but putting the "Big Game" aside, there are three Villanova basketball games this weekend. The men's team has two of those, as the Villanova Wildcats prepare for the Creighton Bluejays(Thursday) and Seton Hall Pirates (Sunday)--two teams they have yet to play against this season. Meanwhile, the women's team prepares for a rematch against Georgetown on Saturday. They will look to sweep Georgetown in both regular season meetings. Lastly, did you know current Villanova AD Mark Jackson used to be an assistant on Bill Belichick's coaching staff? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

    30/01/2018 Duration: 44min

For the fourth straight week and the seventh overall for the season, the Villanova Wildcats sit atop the AP and Coaches' Polls with a No. 1 ranking. They are now just one week away from tying some personal records set last season. This past weekend, men's basketball saw a monstrous 31-point performance by Jalen Brunson, leading the way to victory in Milwaukee (with a nice closing minute-and-a-half by Mikal Bridges to seal the deal). Women's basketball took care of business on its weekend road trip, blowing out Xavier and avenging an earlier loss to Butler. Lastly, we close the show to discuss a few non-Villanova questions. • The Price of Victory, Phil Booth's Hand, Well-Rested, A Message to Students and More!

    25/01/2018 Duration: 42min

The Villanova Wildcats overcame a slow start to beat the Providence Friars by 20. Along the way, Phil Booth went down with a fractured right hand and will be out 4-6 weeks, becoming the THIRD (what are the odds?) Wildcat to have a hand injury. How will his loss impact the 'Cats, and what does it mean moving forward? Women's hoops is back in action with a pair of road games. They've gotten their rest, but will they be ready for a couple of rematches? We answer your Twitter questions and lecture the current students that don't have a perfect attendance rate in home games at the Wells Fargo Center. Learn more about your ad choices. 23/01/2018 Duration: 49min

The Villanova Wildcats put an end to conference play, with their game against the Connecticut Huskies--which was also the start of a three-year series. The Wildcats dominated, and they will now focus on a game with the Providence Friars. But first, we respond to Phil Mushnick's points that criticize Jay Wright for not playing the walk-ons enough--the guys who are the "true student-athletes." Women's basketball topped off a tough 11-day stretch with games against the two best teams in the conference over the weekend, and Adrianna Hahn scored her 1,000th point somewhere in between. 18/01/2018 Duration: 49min

The Villanova Wildcats shot 60%+ on the floor in Patrick Ewing's reintroduction to the Villanova-Georgetown rivalry, just as it did the last time he participated in it--as a player back in 1985. The Hoyas might have ducked and dropped out of the PK80, but the Wildcats' dominant performance down in D.C. might have them wishing they could duck the 'Cats, too. The Villanova women's basketball team got its heartbroken in the closing seconds of its final Big 5 game of the season. The Wildcats were denied a Big 5 sweep and their first outright title since 2013. Things won't get easier for them, as they prepare for the two top teams in the conference. Collin Gillespie returned to the court, after missing time with a hand injury, and we discuss the age-old question: ketchup or mustard on a hot dog? Learn more about your ad choices. • SNN: Undefeated No More, Holiday Hijinks, Alumni Salute, and More!

    04/01/2018 Duration: 01h26s

After a break for the holidays and a bout of technical difficulties, the State of the Nova Nation is back! Some crazy things happened in our absence, like the Villanova Wildcats giving up 101 points to the Butler Bulldogs in a shooting performance that could be explained by Hinkle Magic. Butler shot 68.2 percent from long range in the upset win over 'Nova, surpassing the traumatic Creighton Bluejays' losses from Ethan Wragge, Doug McDermott, and Co. in 2014. Now, men's basketball gears up for the sharpshooting Marquette Golden Eagles, which has the two top scorers in the conference--Andrew Rowsey and Markus Howard. Women's basketball also suffered its first loss of the season and is now 1-2 to start Big East play. The Wildcats enjoyed a comeback win over Providence, but a lopsided loss to...Butler...They look to bounce back against Xavier on Friday night. The Wildcats had a wire-to-wire finish at the Liacouras Center, which Jalen Brunson offered a great petition for a name change to 'the Brunson Center'--after another career performance at the Temple Owls' arena. He wasn't the only one cooking on offense, as Omari Spellman had his best game of the season. Eric Paschall added the exclamation point with an alley-oop posterizer and all is well for Villanova heading into a nine-day break. The Mississippi State Bulldogs lost, which means Villanova and the Florida State Seminoles are the only programs with undefeated men's and women's basketball teams.
